    1. Company of NASA leftovers needs another massive government subsidy.

    2. Promise impractical & probably impossible military application.

    3. Get massive government subsidy and military contract.

    4. Realise it's not achievable.

    5. Sub-contract to Amazon with a longer delivery time.

    6. Amazon realises they can't fulfill reduced promise.

    7. Amazon sub-contracts it to the military industrial complex logistics company.

    8. Military industrial complex logistics company makes deal for US military to assist in delivery.

    9. US military delivers own weapons on a schedule of weeks and pays for the pleasure.

    10. Musk profits.

futurism is when you funnel half of your countrys tax revenue into private companies working for the military industrial complex so that we can accelerate toward the end of human history

One of the most heartbreaking things I ever learned about space was that the space shuttle was entirely designed by the USAF to be a weapons delivery program for low earth polar orbits. Had nothing to do with being able to build the ISS or launch Hubble. That was just the civilian cover to justify all the NROL missions.

There is also a mini space shuttle, the X-37[B], looks just like the regular one, that is unmanned and used for classified missions.

In totalitarian North Korea, the government develops more nuclear-capable rockets instead of helping its starving citizens.

You can't stop me :) And honestly the "Stand by for Titanfall" trailers was the first thing that came to mind when I read the article.

What would a use case for crap like this even be? If you are in a military operation you have supply lines and bases nearby etc. Worst case you would drop them from plane, like if the army gets encircled or something. Why would you need a rocket to deliver weapons? The only case that enters my mind is arming insurgents. But even with insurgents, terrorists and non state actors, there are still contact people and deliveries.

I mean, Titanfall is a cool game, being able to request a supply drop in any country and have a weapons system delivered directly to your combat zone in an hour is a pretty dope idea. Though I doubt they will be able to deliver on it.

Most military actions are planned well in advance, having a huge rocket announce that you're up to something probably isn't ideal

this has already been a thing for as long as ICBMs have existed for the delivery of nukes and explosives. as for soldiers, tanks, ect that will never be possible because rockets are incredibly fragile and can't be armored because they need to be so light. one bullet in a fuel tank will make it start to leak and might instantly destroy it, if not one to the equipment for engines would. both musk and futurism.com (and similar websites) constantly exaggerate stuff, if not making them up entirely

The problem with this remains the same as any sort of large rocket based system: if you're launching a rocket into a war zone from the US, particularly anywhere on a trajectory near Russia or China, you've just massively increased the likelihood of nuclear war.

"President Xi, we promise that rocket is just delivering weapons to an outpost in Afghanistan" relies on a VERY understanding President Xi.

Yeah, it's hard to accurately get a sub orbital trajectory until minutes after launch. And even orbital rockets or sunbeams on ice can be mistaken for suborbital launches as we found out once or twice. This is why rocket launches are announced weeks ahead of schedule. And then you may as well just ship it.

Under socialism 1 hour clipper flights for supply chains are easy (provided you can deal with the carbon output). Under imperialism not so much.

Musk is also lending Starlink to the US Military for better communications. You can't have lag when operating a drone, man!
