I've only been able to really start growing my hair out for myself for the past decade now, and mine grows slow; so finally hitting a length where I can feel natural locs trying to form even after shampoo days has been giving me so much dopamine lately. I'd rather lose a job than go back to buzz cutting and fading for some cracker's comfort.
when i was 17 i had box braids and my boss called me the preditor and tried to make my coworkers call me it too. when i was 19 my black boss forced me to cover my natural hair because it was "unprofessional" I had negative money at this time so I just had to throw a beanie over it.
There have been lawsuits in the US over discrimination based on hair. A lot of companies banned their employees from having dreadlocks or afros, so people had to spend all this money to get unnatural hair styles to fit the company dress code. In court the plaintiffs argued it was unreasonable to make them pay for this stuff out of pocket while white employees could get normal haircuts.
I'm not 100% sure what happened with those cases, but I do know a lot of businesses have gotten more lax about hair, piecings, and tattoos.

I thought about it, and i think we should read The Trinity of Fundamentals, a fictional yet autobiographical book by a communist writer WHILE he was in an Israeli prison. The pages had to be smuggled out of prison, and it got translated to English about a year ago. I'm reading it now, and it's really cool.
