Americans' conception of the IRA is like, a nationalistic paramilitary that is just roaming around the country.

The IRA don't exist anymore. There are gangsters in the north calling themselves IRA, but all they do is sell drugs. The IRA aren't some reactionary militia waiting for an opportunity to spring into action.

Also many iterations of the IRA were socialist

These are pictures from different years. There are murals in both Palestine and Ireland supporting each other's movement. Not to mention all of the marches and protests. Zionists are deeply unserious people.

Ireland is one of the few redeemable western nations and the rest of the global north despises them for it.

These people have absolutely zero understanding of history or, frankly, anything and wear it proudly. The idea that the IRA in it's day would have been pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian is mindbogling in it's stupidly.

You'd have to ignore writings, murals, songs, copycat hunger strikes and letters of solidarity, pretty much any news over a fifty year period. Aside from the obvious similarities of fighting an occupying power, there's also the fact that it was also largely the same bloody occupying power.

The Balfour declaration in 1917 that set out Britain's plan for an Israeli state in Palestine was written by Arthur James Balfour who, before his role as foreign secretary, had spent the 1880s as chief secretary for Ireland (as well as in other positions later) breaking boycotts, passing laws to imprison everyone from Republican activists to sitting Irish MPs without trial, and had soldiers fire on crowds protesting this in a massacre which was named after him: "Bloody Balfour".

Laws like 'Administrative Detention' were created and honed in the British repression and occupation of Ireland and then exported to become policy in British controlled Palestine and then Israel. Some of these laws and mechanisms of legal repression are literally still used and on the books there, and during the troubles (particularly in the 1970s) the British government brought them back again in Ireland with the additional experience they'd gained in Israel.

And even then, none of that even includes the fact that the IRA actively worked with the fucking PLO on training, tactics, information sharing, and even arms supply.

There are only two kinds of IRA stans in America: revolutionary leftists, and the chuddiest, most racist Irish-Americans on Long Island.
