    If you're comfortable owning a gun, learn to shoot, and buy one if you're able to.

    And if you don't feel comfortable owning a gun, consider figuring out some way you can, like having a friend hold onto it. If that's legal (and you care).

      Separate it into multiple parts. Have a friend own part of the mechanism, and you hold the other part. When you have a gun taken apart, you no longer have a gun. You simply have metal parts that can be assembled into a gun.
