Took me like 8 weeks before I started feeling better. Way I looked at it I only then started feeling what I had been putting my body through all those years. Before I would just double down on the poison when I started feeling shitty. Now, almost five years on the wagon I don't miss it anymore. I always said I was planning on having a drink again after my daughter leaves home (she's five years old now), but I'm beginning to really doubt if I'll ever really want to again. Anyway, this isn't about me. Just thought giving some personal narrative to the "It gets better" might help. Hang in, Comrade. It really does get better. 07
Don't know what to ask. Just wanted you to know that I still recognize you as the Queen of Chapo
You can do it comrade. Hope you’re getting support from more than just us shitposters.
We're not all from the US, Comrade. Great you made it this far! You can do it!!!
i just swerved my shift because i accidentally left my bike on the bus and realised i was way too tired to do any construction work so i feel you
This is why I stick with the drugs that don't fuck you up on the way out - weed and games. That way, I'll never have to face my personal demons and can stay blissfully stunted and immobile until the sweet release of death.
Yeah I escalated my weed use this year because I developed a chronic pain condition, and the first time I went through it I literally could not believe that what I was experiencing was marijuana withdrawal. People make out like it doesn't even exist. I actually thought I was sick with something else until I found some reddit posts from people with the same symptoms. Nausea, impossible to eat, sweating and temperature fluctuations, and even a sore throat.
Wow. I'll keep that in mind. I do smoke most days, but it's not like I am high all the time. I took a couple months off at the start of the pandemic due to anxiety around COVID and when I'm anxious weed isn't fun, but I picked it up again once I sadly got used to the reality of 1000s of Americans dying literally every day to this. My past breaks, whether short or long, the main effect seems to be a few nights of lucid dreams, but I'm generally a 1 bowl a day guy, so hopefully I can avoid the worst of those withdrawal symptoms. Course the last couple weeks its been more than that what with having nothing to do all damn day.
Um just a heads up to the folks in legal weed states who are able to smoke concentrates all damn day and get shit delivered instantly, please look up Cannabanoid Hyperemesis Syndrome and just be aware of it. There is a limit to smoking and it is not fun to hit, I'll tell you what
Hell fucken yeah comrade! Lick ass and chew bubblegum.
Can you still drink lightly fermented things like kombucha? I brew my own and try to keep a bottle or two around so I have something tasty to substitute when I want a beer
That fucking sucks! I think that sobriety and being sober allow you to see the world through a more stable lens. Much luck to you. I hope that you find a good reason to stay sober. I think there are a million anyone could give you but it wouldn't matter unless YOU can fit them into your worldview. Being a comrade you have already defeated nihilism - the next step should be a little easier. Solidarity.
Hi comrade, I remember you from the addiction support discord thread. It's always rough quitting some of the harder substances, but I remember one thing that inspired me through it was waking up each morning feeling slightly better than the day before. It can be comforting to know that the only way to go from the bottom is up.
