I understand this to be an official endorsement of racism from the mod team at shitjustworks

Enjoy this attempt to find a single non-racist among our new friends

Edit: Mods are mass deleting comments lmao

Woah, did not expect their users to defend racism that hard.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. When the Western media declares a country the new bad guy of the week suddenly racism becomes magically fine if it's against 'bad country'. The same thing happened to Arabs during the 'war on terror'.

Scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds.

I'm not sure why we should stay federated with racists to be honest.

Especially when instead of doing any sort of self reflection their mods just start banning Hexbear users left and right... for being against racism. You can't make this shit up lmao data-laughing

I argued before federating that allowing a comm with a openly racist header said a whole lot about the people that run the instance and the people who hang out there. Some people were inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt given that it is a small and inactive comm.

But I think the post shows that they'd rather try and own the tankies than condemn racism if the question is put to them point blank

I think charitably we might have better luck dealing with them when they come here, if they're given the ol' bear hug they can either learn or get smothered I guess. hexbear

Apparently users were asking for it. Probably because things have settled down with lem.ee so people felt like another lib instance would be okay

On the face of it it's so bloody unimportant - you can't post a picture of winnie the pooh? That is truly the most oppressed anyone has ever been in history.

And then you actually examine all of the articles they have - every single citation is just "reportedly" "allegedly" "this happened to one student" ass primary sources. I've never actually looked into this in depth until now (because I actually lived in China and of course saw the fucking bear everywhere), in my mind they had more convincing propaganda than that.

    E.g.

“He’s propagating the issue, and frankly, I think he’s humiliated himself by being so childish about it,” says Deb Hoffmann, who holds the world record for the largest collection of Winnie the Pooh memorabilia. “If he would’ve just let it go, it would have died down by now. Plus, if the idiot knew anything, he would be delighted to be compared to Winnie the Pooh. After all, Winnie the Pooh is a very good-hearted, wonderful, thoughtful person. Being compared to Winnie the Pooh is actually quite the compliment!”

This may be the most guts-rage shit, how they invent reality and then react to what they imagined. The making up a guy to get mad at model of journalism. Also, this person quoted is literally just a collector of marketable slop? Why would I care what they think?

They use the "winnie the pooh" thing because of implications and associations. If China is so cruel and evil to ban something completely harmless, what else must they be banning, in secret? There's a whole lot of unspoken assumptions around this stuff. The western press know that liberals are terminally fiction brained and so just let them fill in the blanks with their imagination.

I dunked pretty hard on programming.dev before and now sh.itjust.works is racing for first for liberal chuddery. surprised-pika

programming.dev actually has some pretty cool people that have real discussions after everyone gets to know each other. like we have had some heated threads but almost all of them have resulted in everyone eventually going "huh, learned something new today". They seem to be mostly nerdy internet forum types and that is super cool. startrek.website seems to be the same deal.

Now shit.just.works on the other hand seems to be a bunch of anime profile pic social media users who spout reactionary thought-killing bullshit. No attempt to better understand each other or even defend. Can't even just have a normal discussion about hobbies, entertainment, or tech without one of them jumping in to say something despicable then act outraged when someone asks "wtf, why can't you be normal".

That's possible and I believe you, though when I spot programming.dev people it's often when I'm already seeing a terrible liberal techbro take on a thread, making me associate that suffix with terrible liberal techbro takes. I've had a much better time overall with startrek.website people myself.

Now shit.just.works on the other hand seems to be a bunch of anime profile pic social media users

That's been my experience so far too.

    white "person": be racist

    sane person: you're racist

white "person": how dare you call me racist, I'm the real victim here

You can't be racist to white people.

Racism directed by white people against, say, Chinese people is despicable not only because white people on the whole have an inordinate amount of wealth and social and political power, and thus their own racial animus presents a real threat, but because the Chinese specifically have historically been the victims of majority white imperialist nations and the targets of the most vile racial discrimination in majority white countries.

It's the same as cracker versus the n-word. Guy calls me a cracker, it's little more than a simple insult. I call a black guy the n-word, it's far more offensive, because people who looked like me used to call people like him that word while owning them as property, denying their human rights, and lynching them.

The powerful cannot be the victims of the powerless, and one categorically cannot be racist to white people.

A person can only believe otherwise if they're wholly ignorant and deny the history of racism and racial inequality.

Federating with sh.it.piss.balls was even dumber than federating with the Wehraboos at lemm.pee.

Did our users vote in favor of this shit to prove that electoralism is a fuck? Because congratulations, you've proven once more that it is. We need more democratic centralism up in this mfer and defed that stain of an instance immediately, what the hell did you expect from this? Almost any not openly leftist sub that is fine federating us is some freeze-peach horseshit and will always have way too many reactionaries to let them in here. You privileged fucks could show a minimum of respect for the vulnerable part of our userbase that these people come to harass here, but no, actually taking care of your queer, neurodivergent and racialized comrades is too much when it inconveniences you by giving you less opportunity to "dunk on libs". Make an account there when you want to do that. Don't bring this here.

i think the admin team prob could use some expanding and to be faster to use the banhammer tbh. i dont think the admins are generally privileged though, a lot are trans too.

ive noticed a number of trans people on other instances popping into /c/traa at least, and some even made accounts because of /c/traa and it hitting their front page.

You did a whole lot of scratching there. Including the mods lol. Interesting how mods on all those "leftist", "tolerant", "antiracist", "pro-LGBT" instances seems to be very tolerant to racism, fascism, homo- and transphobia, but will ban anyone pointing out that they are.
