My family never stopped the tradition of christmas lists when we reached adulthood (It just makes shit easier, and my mother can't be persuaded to just stop buying gifts). But I've sort of reached the age where I have no clue what I would want to be given as a gift anyway. What would you/ do gift yourself for Christmas.
My pitch these days is to over spend on a cheap item. People mention getting socks, so ask for a $20 pair. More than you'd ever spend, but low enough someone else can get them as a gift. $20 for a pen, knife, charging cable, coffee mug, etc will go a long way. And then you get a high quality item to use every day.
I'm personally in the market for some computer upgrades I think. A nice mechanical keyboard, probably.
Edit: actually there is an arty shower curtain that I posted a while back that I want (hint hint)
Possibly a new office chair, as with the pandemic the home office will probably last for quite some time
Reminds me of how I was working in the office and my coworker rolled up to me on his chair just as Running In The 90s chorus started playing.
I usually ask for darn tough brand socks. Can't go wrong with a good pair of socks. They're expensive enough that I don't buy them for myself, but cheap enough that it's not unreasonable to ask for 1-2 pairs as a gift.
I like cooking, so there’s usually always a utensil, device, piece of cookware or specialty cookbook that I want.
If you’re not into cooking it’s always a good skill to start learning.
Titos Vodka
The first power tool they see at Harbor Freight for under $30 (really just anything from Harbor Freight)
A half decent pocket knife
Fishing gear
Nice work gear (not a welder, but I use a lot of the same gear that welders do, for reference.) I've got a bad habit of shopping at Harbor Freight for work gear.
Was thinking about this the other day. Idk probably just a replacement cover for my headphones, a new microSD card, wool socks, and/or some nice alcohol.
