bruh are people this fucking dumb to fall for this shit?
The Answer is yes. This is America
Hahahaha that makes this so much better. Like really, they are going to pull a muscle reaching they hard
These Uyghurs who get sent to these factories/vocational schools are literally like farmers who are potentially illiterate, much less fluent in speaking or writing any language outside their own. But yeah it's totally plausible they smuggled a note in English into this shoe that successfully made its way to a Beltway ghoul. Literally who falls for this
myspace is staunchly anti-imperialist, and won't be hoodwinked by shoddy propaganda
this space is ourspace, this space is breadtube.
from the geocities to the chapo dot chats.
this space was made for me and you.
:rat-salute: :amerikkka:
what, you don't think the misspelling of "please" was convincing enough?
Back when I lived in ACTUALLY EXISTING China, I literally had a conversation with a Uyghur guy, in fucking old-town Kashgar of all places. His main critique about government educational changes was precisely how English language education was pushed further along the pipe so that by the time kids got linguistic access to the outside world, they would be predisposed to distrust outside info.
Unless this guy was some kind of East-Turkestani political operative who could sniff out any old Han-lookin' tourist as a foreigner, it's largely inconsistent with contemporary Western alarm bells about the region.
Also, he would have totally fucked up, because, well, I'm not some grizzled western conflict journo, or my travel papers would have been hella denied. I was 1000% a total fuckin' tourist.
by the time kids got linguistic access to the outside world, they would be predisposed to distrust outside info.
Good. Nobody should trust the western world.
This cold war 2 mongering shit actually scares me. What the fuck is wrong with the west? We are dealing with a pandemic, economic collapse and environmental decline now is not the time to be picking fights with a superpower.
It's such an obvious ploy to distract people from domestic problems, how do people fall for this shit?
what better time to make jingoistic gesturing than during times of uncertainty
It's a perfect tactic - find a potentially ethically questionable thing China is doing, inflate it into a genocide, and therefore automatically paint anyone who questions it (or the US's motives) as a genocide denier. Uyghur discourse on the mainstream internet is basically a trap.
It is because they are terrified.
China exists as a shining beacon, saying communism is possible you guys!In a time like this, hope for after the revolution will not stand.
I was being hyperbolic. But the relevant point is, China "is better than the US for sure", it doesn't matter that it isn't quite paradise, it isn't hell.
Knowing that could be enough to encourage even ordinary people to join the revolution. The USA works extremely hard to make China seem like just a different type of hell. The histories of post-collapse USSR, East Germany, Yugoslavia, these are terrifying; but China is an example that, once revolution has happened, long term stability is possible.
The Western world does not care for '"communism", it is a scare word; but something like a state capitalism, dictatorship of the proletariat, that doesn't go to war all the time...
It is something "realistic" that people can easily imagine. If everybody knew the realities about China, it would be much more difficult for the bourgeois to retain control.Especially now that the USA economy is under such extreme stress, and seeing how a pandemic is allowed to just run its course, people have less to lose.
But most still expect that if a revolution comes, they will enter just another nightmare, one that is likely worse.
They’re not terrified because China poses an ideological threat. They’re terrified because it doesn’t. It was very easy to convince Western European governments to line up against the USSR because it posed a serious ideological threat to their ruling classes. But China will do business with anyone regardless of what kind of government you have. They’re not interested in domestic politics in any country beyond getting along and having a productive trade relationship. The US ruling class and their mandarins are used to calling the shots in the “free world” but China gives other countries’ rulers another option for patronage that doesn’t have many strings attached.
The defense establishment is doing it to preserve their jobs. It was easy to fundraise against the USSR because it was big and had nukes. Between the collapse of the USSR and 9/11 they were rudderless, some thinking they could reform the military into some kind of humanitarian force with bombs. Then 9/11 happened and they had another Big Bad in Islamic terrorism but now China is big and good at science and building shit they have a better adversary than some religious nut jobs in a cave somewhere.
the US is also one of the few countries that voted NO on some UN resolution on fighting Nazism, racism, xenophobia, etc.

UM, UM ,UM , that's whataboutism, so now I don't have to think about this at all. Intellectual checkmate, cummies 😎
classic moving the goalpost MAGAT! I see you trying to manipulate the narrative - WELL NOT ON MY WATCH BUCKO!
It's totally because we want to help Muslims and not because China threatens our economic interests, honest!
Lol this is fake, there aren't enough hand gestures to make it italian enough.
they ran out of space for the 1 quadrillion dead uyghurs in china so they had to move them to vietnam
why the fuck is the 'note' in English, can't they make their propaganda at least a little plausible
English is a popular second language, I don't think that's the least plausible part of the story.
Yep, this is the most important bit. Already invested Sinophobes doesn't care if what they're posting is true or not, as they're not trying to inform but rather are merely talking shit about China. It's the average person that matters, as they still can be informed and steered away from the misinformations.
yeah I have some comrades that worked enough retail to have found an alarming number of notes, not one in english
the joke is to be the one writing the notes and planting them to fuck with management.
Back when I lived in ACTUALLY EXISTING China, I traveled to Xinjiang once and had a conversation with a Uyghur guy about English language education, in fucking old-town Kashgar of all places. His main critique about government educational changes was precisely how English language education was pushed further along the pipe so that by the time kids got linguistic access to the outside world, they would be predisposed to distrust outside info.
Unless this guy was some kind of East-Turkestani political operative who could sniff out any old chinese-looking tourist as a foreigner, it’s largely inconsistent with contemporary Western alarm bells about the region.
Also, he would have totally fucked up, because, well, I’m not some grizzled western conflict journo, or my travel papers would have been hella denied. I was 1000% a total fuckin’ tourist.
Oh hell yeah. Aside from the regular armed police patrols, nothing was different in the way you were treated if you were a ethnically Han citizen (resident or tourist) or foreign national.
this was years ago before the Chinese government felt sufficiently sorted out and kicked out all the sex pest "english teachers" (my god may those fuckers rot in hell).
So a lot of foreign countries hire teachers from English native countries to come in and teach English to their students for a few semesters so they can gain fluency that can only be learned from casual discussion.
Obviously dogshit pedos use this as an opportunity to prey on kids they're hired to teach.
They're not immigrants they're foreign hired labour specialists.
oh pal, forget even the child predation angle, it's more like every fucking bar has some sketchy expat talking about his MBA trying to sleazeball his way into people's pants.
It's gross, creepy, and rapey as all hell.
The slow increase of travel controls and general "yo if you don't have a good reason to be here, fuck right off" for foreigners, that's all.
Not Xinjiang in particular but a lot of English teachers in third world countries are sex pests or pedos. They don’t stick around in one place for long, they’re treated with respect, and have access to children. It’s fucked.
I'd hope it's the qualified and not-creepy ones that are staying, is all.
Yeah Radio War Nerd did an episode a while back where they interviewed a Russian journalist who went there as a tourist. Xinjiang is basically a literal police state (as in, there are police with anti-knife attack gear stationed in every small town shop and checkpoints in transit hubs) but you can move relatively freely around the region.
