Someone asked me that recently after we were going through Netflix and couldn't find a single movie either of us interested in. My answer was Anchorman 2, but even that ended up being disappointing, and forever ago.
I think part of that is the dawn of a future dystopia. A lot of entertainment has been rendered pretty meaningless, and in times of strife, they reveal themselves to be increasingly vacuous.
On a counternote: what movies should I be checking out (any platform)?
Not out: Dune :deeper-sadness:
Out: The Lighthouse :party-blob:
Excited about watching in general or like a new movie you got hyped for? I'll assume the later and probably go with... Us? I really liked Get Out and love me some Tim Heidecker so I was really looking forward to that.
Got a genre or a vibe you want recommended?
El Camino and Us were both really good movies I looked forward to. I'm excited for The Many Saints of Newark
I feel like things are better if you don't get hyped and build expectations
The miniseries has not aged well, but the intro is still 10/10
The color out of space, it wasn't bad, it reminded me of the jeffrey coombs Lovecraft flicks like reanimated and from beyond. nick cage is a surprisingly good fit for horror movies, judging by Mandy and this.
I’m the same way. Can’t find shit on Netflix. Although I recently watched ‘a serious man’ and enjoyed it.
Rise of Skywalker, based on how much I loved Last Jedi. I literally could not have been more let down by that """film"""
Mortal Engines. Loved the books.
Was a little let down by the film but still thought it was awesome. Shame it's probably not getting a sequel.
I'm kind of excited for Army of the Dead. I've always had a soft spot for zombie movies and the Dawn of the Dead remake (by the same director) was one of my favorites growing up.
