I'm sorry, I was told that fitness is Body Fascism and inherently reactionary. I'm gonna do the antifascist thing and order a pizza and lay in bed instead
Ran 3.5 miles. Not great, but I'm rebuilding my base after a couple years of recovering from an injury, and at least it's something.
I'm gonna go cut down a Christmas tree with an axe. It is the only Christmas tradition I enjoy without reservation.
i like Yoga with Adriene's channel on youtube, she does a great job integrating asanas with other principles, making her accessible to newbies like my SO but also offering a lot for more experienced yogis to deepen their practice of yielding, center, and radiating. did this one today. i have a pair of 8lb dumbbells that i fuck around with a couple times a day. might do that too.
As we speak I'm heading to the park to do a workout with a friend between his clients. It'll be something like:
Hex bar deadlifts 1 set to failure at 225, 3 sets of 10
Overhead walking lunges 3 sets 10 2 16kg bells Pull ups
Floor chest flys 3 sets Bent over back flys 3 sets
Db curls 3 sets to failure
And a lot of running our mouths about the failure that is the American state. :amerikkka:
I did some gardening with my homegirl! I live in a warm climate so we're getting ready to plant garlic, onions, and maybe some leafy greens. Our first frost date just hit so it was time to trim our bulb bois in prep for winter.
I need some tips on walking up early. I used to get up at 4 and jog then go to work. Now I'm lucky if I wake up at 930 without falling back asleep
I know "make it a habit" it awful advice, but having it be your routine is the easiest way.
Make sure you go to sleep with enough time so you aren't needing more when you wake up to run. Also cut away screen time within 90-120 min before bed.
If all else fails a low dosage of melanin can help some people fall asleep if you're having trouble getting to bed at a good time.
Echoing @DasKarlBarx I've been cooking up this theory. You take a week, right? You decide that week, "I'm going to shotgun 5 different approaches to waking up early." One time cold turkey you just do a jog. One time you make a breakfast early, wait a while, then jog. One time you have breakfast already made, you wake up, eat a little, then jog. You do one where it's a little later, you juts drink tea and go for a jog. You do 5 of those and then you decide, "which one was my favorite? What went well? What sucked? What could be better?" You take another 3 days to iron out the details (3 permutations of your favorite method of the first week) of what waking up earlier looks like. You then commit to that 2nd evolution champion method and commit to doing that one for a month. You then have a new habit you can refine and perfect.
edit: learned today that this concept is called A/B testing and people just do that.
Does riding my dirt bike through gated communities count?
Good. I was afraid it wasn't "active" enough since it's mostly just sitting on it and riding it around being loud. It is a bitch to kick-start, and the trail to get to the community is kinda hard to navigate though.
Nah dirt bikes are tough to control and pissing off people who live in gated communities is absolutely praxis.
Just walked along the river while listening to an audiobook about the history of textiles from the paleolithic to the bronze age, focusing on women's work especially. Was very chill lol
I'm really enjoying it! It's called Women's Work: The First 20,000 Years. It's a little older so a couple things are out of date, and her area of expertise is Europe + the Mediterranean so she mostly focuses on that, which is a bit of a shame. But she weaves herself, and her anecdotes about trying to recreate ancient textiles are so sweet haha
Ah man that sounds right up my wife's alley.
It is always hard to find good historic podcasts that take place outside the anglo/european/mediterranean sphere so I feel your struggle there.
I walked around the woods for a couple hours and listened to a new audiobook, then later I did a leg workout. Feeling pretty good today
i jogged a mile then played melee because I was too tired to do my calisthenics.
Also down 5 pounds from when I started 2 weeks ago :)
5 lbs in 2 weeks is incredible! Keep up the good work comrade :heart-sickle:
I did 5k of xc skiing and taught my friend to do it as well.
