Look more of you need to be suffering to maintain these specific social relations where I get to extract all your surplus value and direct society along with my friends :-)

He looks like he's just giving a talk or lecture, but nobody in the audience is even booing him or trying to throw shit at him

I'll be honest I looked him up after watching your link and found that factoid.

I still want him dead though.

And this is why the narrative of “if we all just work hard and put the elbow grease in we can all be rich one day” is bullshit. The moment wages are competitive and/or inflation creeps up, these ghouls put the pressure on the central banks to raise interest rates to kick up unemployment.

And this is why the narrative of “if we all just work hard and put the elbow grease in we can all be rich one day” is bullshit.

It's bullshit, but it's extremely powerful bullshit. How do you combat that? I'm legitimately asking.

Capitalism says (lies) that everybody has a chance to reach a level of prosperity where they can spend their whole lives doing whatever they want, they just need to hustle a bit harder to get there. Imagine living your life for 16 hours a day, rather than the 2-4h which most people get (after removing work, commutes, chores, etc) - it's just such an incredible carrot to dangle in front of populations.

Socialism says (honestly) that individual prosperity is limited, everybody is expected to give up at least half their waking hours to work. It seems to me that the lie offered by capitalism is way more powerful at gaining "followers" than the truth offered by socialism.

That's why a communist's first and fundamental role is to educate themselves and other workers on how capitalism works. That's the whole reason Capital and other communist theory were made at all

The Owners understand Marxist thought intuitively. A reserve of unemployed labor is necessary to keep wages suppressed and maintain profits.
