8.3 million people live in NYC. 24’346 deaths so yeah, 0.3%.
333’000 cases, that’s 4% of the population, and a >7% mortality rate.
Reminder that mid-April there was ~1’000 death a day. This is what happens when hospitals get overwhelmed.
