I'm not the most informed voter in local elections, but my number one rule is to never vote for a small business owner, cop, or prosecutor.
Every candidate for local office here is just some generic real estate developer or small business owner, like they hit a net worth of 10 or 20 million and decided they'd just buy a seat. No one ever covers these races, there's no way to find out who these assholes are or what their platform is, since there is effectively no local media. Most candidates don't even bother to have a Facebook page (and when they do it's always the most generic shit imaginable) but they sure do put up a shitload of those road-side signs. You never see any signs in anyone's yard though, only next to intersections. Bleak, but absolutely too boring for anyone to do anything about it.

Tbh, I think leftists should start scrutinizing how the Covid lockdowns are affecting people a lot more. Not like the PMC tyrants have, I couldn't give less of a fuck about business owners, I'm moreso talking about how prolonged lockdowns will decimate the psyche of the most alienated, lonely, and isolated generation in history that was suffering from all that shit even before we were legally required to stay in our houses. Mix in the fact that your mental health deteriorates the more financially unstable you are, and the fact that we're either experiencing constant waves of layoffs if we don't work in essential industries, or are forced to play biological russian roulette if you are an essential worker, and this whole crisis seems poised to psychologically fuck up millions of people for years to come.
You know when you look at yourself in the mirror too long and start tripping about the fact that you're really in this body, you're really just a very complex piece of meat and you viscerally exist right now in this moment and there's nothing you can do about it - and then you get that weird out-of-body panic feeling? I'm getting that with the pandemic nowadays. Just, holy shit, guys, what the fuck. How is this happening? How can we just be watching this go on?
