        All through the 50s-80s the US was experimenting on their own population. In Clouds of Secrecy: The Armys Germ Warfare Tests Over Populated Areas it goes through all the biological weapons they released on their own unsuspecting population. It is also interesting as a few army generals are brought into court and they reply with such contempt for the public and the direct deaths they caused ("we needed to test! The soviets the soviet the soviets!")

          There has been no real (not fake) proof of Lymes disease existing before the 40s.
