As someone who clung on to life at some of the tiny lifeboat subreddits after the axe dropped, this place is a veritable bustling metropolis of posting by comparison and I can't complain too much

Just the natural cycle. Burst of initial posting, now we gotta figure out our long term rhythms. It's a marathon not a sprint.

Its difficult to move to a new platform, especially when its not well established. Also this is why I think its too soon to split into communities. We're basically a forum with a slightly different interface now. I hope it catches up over time, but we need to keep it active...

I mean, the migration from discord is slowing down. Soon it will all be the the natural growth of the site and then we will be able to judge and strategize about it. We're still in the early game with this community.

Some of the smaller channels were cool, and I dug "the people's podcast" for the first few days, but yeah. The discord as a whole takes the concept of a "stream of consciousness" and upgrades it to a firehose of consciousness. Say something and it is lost to the scrollback and lost forever in a half hour.

"Firehose of consciousness" is a very good description. I also saw someone call it an "endless twitch chat", which I found very descriptive, because there's nothing particularly wrong with it, but it's useless to have a conversation, or any kind of coherent dialogue.

Discord is best when there's like 30 people maximum, above that it's too much, but with a small group it feels like having a conversation with your friends.

Yeah, then it is pretty much a more organized group chat, with voice channels and streaming. That's exactly where discord shines as a platform.

I spend quite a bit of time in the gaming channel and that's pretty cool. Other smaller channels have very little participation or too much, but that one is just right.

Maybe. Changing the sort type in my user profile to "All" (instead of "Subscribed") was a big improvement

      no

EDIT: Ah yes I see it now. No you are actually the experts here and not just making shit up as you go. And the more upvotes it gets the more true it is.

the original sub was one glorious community. dumb as hell to split it up and expect it to not instantly slow down

People end up posting everything on c/main, electoralism shit stays in main, posts dunking on people never go to the dunking community (whatever it's called). But if we did post all that shit in their respective communities, then what will be left to the main community? Better to build up a strong chapo replacement and then branch out.

You can just browse all channels at once.

            https://hexbear.net/home/data_type/post/listing_type/all/sort/hot/page/1

There really should be a better route to that view. https://hexbear.net/all/ would be good.

This thread is whining about it being small no? Pick a lane. This website just started. Just post and don't worry about meta bullshit.

right, and i've rumbled about it myself, because Chapo has been in kind of a spiral. So it would also do wonders to not be associated with them in name, even if there are still fanboys here.

Mods put it up for a vote on the Discord whether to keep the Chapo branding, and it got a pretty sizable majority in favor of keeping it because people are fucking stupid.

Maybe when the podcast defends that mythicized white proletariat that thinks cops are fantastic once again, we can finally be dumb with this shit.

its Quality over quantity. We really have neither, but I'd rather post when I feel like it than machine-gun barrage the page with my brainworm-ish shitposts.
