Remind them what the Democrats did during the 2009-2010 congress. Reid, Pelosi, and Obama had no problem handicapping themselves by continuing to play by the Republicans' rules when the GOP senators were in the minority, such that they needed 60 votes to pass most of their significant legislation and had to invoke cloture to even get the watered-down final version of the ACA passed.

The HEROES Act is never passing without being adulterated beyond recognition. A Dem majority in the Senate wouldn't change that. If you're poor, hell, if you're just working-class and make less than something like $60k or $70k a year, Democrats fucking hate you. They have nothing but contempt for the poorer half of the US population, and are smart enough to express that contempt through pity and half-assed platitudes rather than open hostility like the Republicans so often do.

Even if that happened they would just move the goalposts again and claim it was also necessary with a democratic Supreme Court or a democratic pope or something.

Texas is Oklahoma with patches of California. It's not going to secede. Most of the big-name Republican politicians call the big blue cities their home. They rely on international trade and transit in order to finance their lifestyles. And they mostly just use "Secession!" as a call to violence against their ideologically opposed neighbors.

looks like its currently AOC bad time, i been reading State and Rev, and AOC is emanating Kautsky energy

AOC doesn't have shit on kautsky. Kautsky was a genuine political theorist and was working through the contradictions of communist parties working in bourgeois legislatures largely for the first time.

At least Kautsky was a fucking Marxist! AOC is just a Democrat liberal who knows how to signal on a couple of leftwing issues

Yeah Lenin is still fundamentally a Kautskyist, just he diverged when Kautsky said dumb stuff of which even that is defensible as it was huge uncharted territory (hot take but some good work done on it, see Lars Lih's work).

I like AOC in theory, but I fear she'll have made too many "compromises" before her 2028 run. I want to believe in her but my expectations are low

I don’t like her in theory or in practice. That little bit of you that has hope for her being a socialist hero? Kill it. It’s the liberal reformist chauvinist bit of your brain leftover from being a Democrat. Suffocate it.

I also like AOC, but frankly if the 'lefts' best chance for power is to wait until 2028 where we may get her in if if everything goes right, we're fucked

AOC 2024 was an interesting concept to think of before biden won, but if you move the timeline to 2028 it makes it seem pretty lame. Who knows if we'll even be alive by then lol

I absolutely agree and at the same time I find myself having to defend her constantly from shitlibs. Its a bit of a precarious situation, but if someone is punching left on her for legitimate critiques (iirc she called Maduro a dictator) i got no problems with that at all.

She should run for a Senate seat in NY first. For the sake of electoral bullshitting. She needs more time in the oven imo.

They could've won the senate had they ran on policies that people want instead of going RepublicanLite. They raised billions of dollars for McGrath who never really had much of a chance to win and their response is to just yell about how STOOOOOOOOPID people are for not voting blue no matter who.

Their problem with running on the policies people want is that they themselves doesn't want these policies.

hold on hold on, you're saying politicians operating within a system that exploits the working class don't actually mean to help the working class? wack.

I really do hope dems win both Georgia seats, just so I can see the look on libs faces after Manchin and/or Sinema flip.

It's pragmatic not to do anything, if you do something that could potentially piss off people, and that's risky, and risk is not pragmatic, so it's pragmatic not to do anything

lmao they are talking about Justice Dems. It's not some shady secret.

Justice Dems are ostensibly Bernie inspired "progressives" with the goal of... unseating corporate Dems. AOC has never pretended to be anything else.

All things considered, Dore is at least a principled anti-imperialist and has consistently better takes than the radlib Rose emoji breadtube left. He’s stupid, but because he’s consistently anti-American and populist he ends up being right most of the time

But red brown alliance is a real and incredibly annoying thing. Like, during WTO we managed to oppose imperialism without stanning Assad.

You literally are one. Your alt on Reddit was defending a r/neoliberal poster criticizing this site for being too “tankie”

I have never watched Dore once in my life, but from what I understand he consistently is anti-America and that makes him a better socialist and a better ally than you.

Isn’t that pathetic? You are closer to a neolib than you are a communist. You are more treacherous and unhelpful than the idiot Dore. Sad!

They appeal to you more, go be with your shitlib kinsmen. You can talk about Taiwan and Chinese imperialism and how evil tankies are. Then you will get the wall during the revolution. Stop LARPing as a socialist, you aren’t even close
