O7 to every brave poster banned by rebr0.
Edit: In case anyone raises a fuss, I'll clarify that I'm generally against banning (especially site banning) people for memes unless they explicitly ask to be banned for memes, but you K N O W they had it coming.
:stalin-shining:
Also apparently the podcast hosts didn't like him. Which counts for something good imo
Apparently Matt was asked about the subreddit or something and he responded that some of the mods didn't like the podcast or something, along with the ramifications of some of the people on the sub trying to cancel the hosts or something. Since I don't watch Matt's vlogs and this is all shit I've heard online there's a large chance it's all bullshit.
Was that the time Matt also complained the sub doesn't really discuss the podcast which lead to the CTH mods religiously pinning every episode and CTH adjacent project for a while?

Idk for how much that counts, the podcast hosts don't like anyone, lol.
Yeah the only way to moderate these communities is to ban heavily and as often as possible. This isn’t some ancom utopia, the standards should be high even if the users are mostly slob dipshits
I think I was banned like 3 times from the old sub which ended with me getting permabanned automatically (which was rescinded). I don't remember all the reasons, I'm pretty sure one was a short one which was kind of a joke (by Rebr0), the other was because I made a slave owner parody post or something similar that was too explicit during the time when that shit was not allowed, and I don't remember what the other one was. But I am pretty sure it was Rebr0 again.
EDIT: Lol I remembered why I was banned, someone posted a super mopy Andy NGO pic and someone posted "I cri", so I replied "when grifters deserve to die". It was a SOAD reference but at that time it was too spicy and I'm pretty sure that's what got me permabanned lol
I can support mod abuse but ONLY if it's against rebr0 since they were the czar of mod abuse on CTH
"Reddit mod" is a really unique kind of power trip.
Hypothesis for a psychology study: The more inconsequential your power is the more likely you are to abuse it.
Being an online moderator (having false power) can really bend people's priorities out of wack, I've seen it happen and it's haunting
We have the best mods, folks!
They still aren't good, but they're the least bad mods I can imagine
I looked in the modlog and saw BASED_BALL alternating banning people for "sectarianism" and banning people with the reason "behead those who insult chomsky"
EDIT: I was wrong, it was removed comments not bans. I apologize for the mistake.
So they weren't joking when they said they were a DemSoc?

I'm still wondering how the hell someone thought it was a good idea to make him a mod.
I got banned by him 2 times I think, both times because I kept making fun of him and he was like :angery:
I was banned and had comments shadow-deleted for the dookie post
I made that at the time (apparently the day before the sub was banned lmao) and found it with this btw https://camas.github.io/reddit-search/
I got banned three times for "abusing the report button" despite not reporting anything. Oddly enough I did argue with Rebr0 over dumb shit moments before getting banned each time 🤔 it was funny as hell, honestly
Yeah, cause then It's just "guess I'll dm beatnik and wait a couple hours till he unbans me"
Ah I could have done that, I tried unsuccessfully with my first account to get unbanned (through the modmail)and then just said screw it and made another account every time
looked back through my dms with beatnik and found this:
" Ban message:
For the last time just go away jesus christ"
btw, I never got an answer on whether or not mods could shadow delete comments, is that a thing they could do?
On Reddit? Yes. If a mod deleted your comment, it would still look to you like it was up- the only way to see if it was was to log out and try to find the comment.
Then rebro really did shadow delete my comments calling him stinky lmao
If I ever make a post that isn't funny I want to be banned for exactly 15 seconds just to give me a little jumpstart.
I totally realize most people are going to disagree with me here but I feel compelled to say that banning @TransComrade69 for a joke wasn't a very kind thing to do. We have seen TONS of posts from vulnerable populations talking about how this @TransComrade69 is a source of support and humor in a dark time. Irony and dirtbagism aside, taking away that support without warning was not okay.
You can say I'm being silly, or humorless or reactionary. Whatever. I love the @TransComrade69 and I love this community. But sometimes I come home after dealing with ableism and our nightmare reality all day, and @TransComrade69 is one of many things that make me feel better. It wasn't a good feeling to find @TransComrade69 banned for the sake of irony. Maybe that's laughable or pathetic. But for me, it's true.
This entire thread is making me realize I wasn't on the old sub near as much as I thought I was because I don't understand or recognize any of this Chapo lore.
