Like after Charlottesville there was a hysteria of the left that these Trump supporters truly were a paramilitary army in waiting, that any day now Trump would call them to arms and these brownshirts would march in the streets and institute a fascist terror. In hindsight we now know that Charlottesville was the real high-water mark for the neo-Nazis and "alt-right" LARPers and they have since faded into total irrelevance.
Matt's take was informed by this hindsight and he basically made fun of this hysteria, saying these Trump freaks are some of the laziest and most spoiled babies in the heart of empire and there's absolutely zero chance these fat entitled dipshits would ever actually put their money where there mouths were. And now it's proven beyond shadow of a doubt that that's correct. Their highest conception of praxis is literally just posting about all the courageous shit they'll totally do on the internet (which hits its apotheosis with the QAnon freaks), and maybe they'll go out and hold some signs or block a street with their obnoxious trucks decked out with massive flags. That's it.

QAnon is much larger than you give it credit for but luckily they are a terminal case of engaging with politics as spectator sport.
Theres three types of QAnon freak: Grifter, Spectator, and True Believer. The last of them is the rarest and most dangerous. Not saying the Spectators don't genuinely believe their bullshit, but the True Believer is one who will act on their supposed insider information, like the guy who actually went and shot up Comet Ping Pong to save the children while the Mike Cernoviches and Jack Posobiecs were just posting about it.
The True Believers are few and far between. The only threat they pose is as an extension of the police like the Proud Boys were during the protests

Without the backing of the entire military, the chuds would get absolutely wiped. Which they would have, because the US military isn't going to be supporting a communist revolution any time soon. They just can't admit that because then they don't look as tough.
I ask myself this often, but if they are at all reflective of boomer comics/fox news/OAN/etc... then I think they are mostly unironic, because at this point in America there are 3 kinds of communists:
- Actual MLs
- Anyone without an "R" next to their name who doesn't kowtow to Trump (according to conservatives)
- Russia, specifically Putin, and any twitter user or high level Republican associated with "Russian collusion" (according to libs)

I've confronted chuds on this one, demanding an answer for what communism is. More than once they've described democracy itself, i.e., when a majority will is expressed through a practice of social equity to make demands of society. My racist moron cousin literally described communism as "when idiots get together and think they know what they want, but trust someone else to get it for them" Yeah, ok, so all elected officials are communists.

I work with someone like this. Communism is when you glorify private capital regardless of the social consequences, which is very bad. It's also communism when you challenge private capital, which is a terrible thing to do. Democrats do both of those things, and Republicans do neither of these things.

I feel like the vets from the older versions of the military would have done something by now. The modern ones seem completely incapable of acting without having an overwhelming advantage or thinking for themselves. I think we only got Micah and Dorner because whatever was going on with their mental illnesses offset parts of the military indoctrination that make the other vets so docile.
