The seven who were caught with paint could possibly face LIFE IN PRISON for it.

The reactionaries love to crawl out from their rat holes and say "play stupid games, win stupid prizes." But I can't help but think who will be winning the stupid prize by the end of this. They are turning survival into a fucking game, stripping all of the rules and norms away from the simple process of providing food for a family's children. If they think they can take away an entire lifetime for some paint, just wait until they get a taste of the justice we have in mind.

Edit: This probably pales in comparison, but when I was at Occupy Wall Street in Zucotti Park, the NYPD arrested a few of our comrades for the simple crime of drawing with sidewalk chalk. The rest of us held our remaining pieces of chalk high in the air as an act of defiance. This probably had much less to do with getting their cases dismissed than the assistance we had from the National Lawyers Guild, but it was a pretty powerful moment. These motherfuckers will try to ruin our lives with any excuse they can scratch together. We need to look out for one another, and we especially need to make sure these gestapo tactics don't strike indecisiveness and fear into our hearts. Again. If they want to turn this into a fucking game, they will regret where that takes us.

My fear is that Bozeman is small enough that this will break the back of the protests here instead of galvanizing others to protest more, but we'll see.

My fear is this happens a lot more than not. People never hear about anything unless it actually matters and changes things. So many people get wiped away before that can happen. It is going to shock a lot of people no matter what, but it won't drive everyone to quit. It very well might drive a change of tactics though.

hi degenerates & liberals i used to lurk on your old sub on reddit i.e. the only good sub on reddit. i never posted because i only really go on reddit to harrass and abuse liberals & aristos/bootlickers. this is due to a deep seated resentment i've unfortunately got no other outlet for. i go to work, i get angry at my manager & the system as a whole & i come home and find a manager online to insult where they can't fire me. its not healthy but its what i do.

good effort with this new forum its looking good

eta; i forgot to say, thanks for your old sub - it wasn't perfect no place is but it was really nice to read perspectives that are usually supressed in the west, and also sharing ideas. even if most of those ideas are novel insults for liberals. its good therefore that its being remade here, even if it doesn't succeed (i think it will). also, i never listened to the podcast & will never, I don't get half your references here

This means you're probably closer to getting the references than the podcasters are. Either way the message is heartwarming. :af-heart:

      You sound extremely cool.

Can you get your coworkers to complain about their managers?

well actually on that subject, i recently decided to take advantage of an oppertunity to troll my managers and their managers and even their managers irl, which has led to a weird kind of stalemate atm due to covid, in the sense of an employer-employee dispute. it was pretty easy to use tricks i've picked up wasting my life trolling online to get some management to say and do and write some pretty stupid things. i've got a way to fuck them over now, even financially (and in excess of whats required for legal purposes, as revenge), but its stalled. I did get to actually shout at a high up manager though and he was shaking at the end haha.

unfortunately i'm in the uk, and while I can (with effort & perseverance, and not entirely to my satisfaction) use and abuse the workers rights we do have as an individual, this means nothing because it helps no one but me. And even then it doesn't help much.

i'm in an industry where its default to complain about managers, but managers have a lot of tricks and workers aren't organised. the uk worker complains but never does anything, because we're still servents in a country infected by aristos. That includes a labor aristocracy.

anything you can do (and workers have a lot of tricks to escape or beat the system) is purely individualistic, the company absorbs any payout as a matter of course, nothing really changes. The only real lesson i can impart is that companies/corporations are really weak right now, if there was ever a time to pile on pressure (accidentally break stuff, use up stock etc - don't get fired tho, and only if you hate who you work for), its now because of covid.

i'm lucky because i'm not trapped by some of the things my colleagues are - debt, consummerism, familial responsibility (this is the biggest one).

from the UK, to the US, since i guess this community is mostly US (i may be wrong), do not fall for european style socialism its a trap set by aristos who still rule europe and a far more cunning one than your republic

Sometimes all this competition and “performance” stuff with jobs just makes me feel so useless. I’m horrible under pressure and just wanna learn and grow at the job.

I mean it’s utterly dehumanizing, everyone feels that pride.

Congrats comrade. That’s the ultimate goal. I feel like I and most of us can put up with more beaurocratic (I can never spell that word right) bullshit if we’re doing material good. I’m looking for a history teaching job. Sucks in these times but well so does every other job.

Best part of getting furloughed was that, even though I am 90% sure my job isn't coming back, I don't need to pretend to search for a new one until three months pass and I know for sure I'm totally fucked. In the meantime, at least the state is unwittingly paying me to work on chapo.chat.

I'm very worried this forum will dry up and die without some advertising on the users part but I don't know how to tell people about this site without sounding like a giant dork

Agreed, this is the biggest threat we face. I'd say people with lots of twitter followers for example could share links to here for example, or maybe posting on reddit a link to here saying casually "oh yes this topic has been discussed a lot here [link to chapo.chat]"

I think federation will help. Right now being here requires signing up explicitly which is a barrier for many.

The usual; serve some static files, authenticate some logins, connect to a database, serve REST endpoints aimed at some SQL queries. I'm okay with requesting things in JS and writing SQL statements, and I'm annoyed with pretty much everything in between. Install an entire package ecosystem, write a bunch of poorly documented config files, maybe rewrite all your tables as structs, that stuff.
