"my schedule is pretty tight. tighter than your wife/kids/dog. this might need to be compressed into one or two events."

This is kind of a clickbait headline. They get equal seats on committees because there are an equal number of Ds and Rs in the Senate. It's not Chuck Schumer just deciding McConnell will be running half the Senate or anything. Dems are shit but like there's a floor on this thing.

Amazing. First the weasel out of doing $2000 checks after running on such. And now a second promise broke, to remove McConnell from leadership.

I really don't know if I can do 4 years of this. It's exactly what people said it would be.

It’s a 50-50 split so they have to do this. Not defending the libs...McConnell isn’t leader anymore

No,the number of committee seats is pre-set and there will be an equal number of Ds and Rs on each committee because there are an equal number of Ds and Rs in the Senate. Stacking the committees would be equivalent to just nullifying the other party’s seats.

The headline is poorly-worded and clickbaity. Dems are not actually giving any power to the GOP here, it’s a minor clarification of the rules when there’s an equal number of people from each party.

Apperantly this is the same as what happened in 2001 when the Senate was last tied

Keep in mind that tied votes go through the committee, so Republicans can't block anything in a committee even if they have equal seats

you need a majority vote on the committee right?

        no, tied votes pass.

Part of this power sharing agreement is that tied votes pass. This is what happened in 2001 I think when the Senate was last split.

republicans lose, yet they still win. Who needs friends when your enemies are the democrats? (yes I know they're rly the same party, but in the context of this puppetry show we all pretend to live under, they are foes)
