Ngl didn't see that coming.
Love the guy in the comments saying that he’s against socialism, but would like there to be workplace elections that voted for the ceo.
It constantly baffles me how people can hear these valid teardowns of the current system (which they probably subconsciously know are true) and just call the person saying them an idiot without elaborating. It's like hearing someone say "everyday people are exploited by the elites" and replying "nuh uh!"
Hey man, if it means they end up on our side of things, let them fall ass backwards into socialism despite themselves
This. Another great one is speeding ticket fines proportional to wealth/income. Haven't had a chud disagree yet. Once they start down this road it's up to us to introduce the empathy.
lets compromise on this: some socialism, but also we can do your thing. and also maybe pay the CEO the same as the worker?
This is the message.
Anytime I'm talking to chuds there is always support for a maximum wage. Always. They always pull back when we start putting a number on it, lol, but "reasonable working people can get together and work out the actual number" gets them right back on track.
It's such a simplistic, universal message with unbelievably broad appeal. They haven't started messaging against it yet, like MFA.
International campaign now.
We got pretty close, didn't he do pretty well in PA?
What ever happened with his wife's diagnoses, maybe he's posturing for 2024.
ohhhh, was that you?! i remember someone knee-deep in editing interviews with Howie Hawkins before switching to posting non-stop about Ventura
not like it would be worse than this fucker or his predecessor. it seems america can only have progress under ex-wrestlers.
oh fuck. not that we didn't already see this coming.
that movie was super problematic, but it predicted so fucking much and im scared.
12 year old me: fuck everyone in charge, rules are bullshit, you should eat what you kill and everyone else should fuck off.
30 year old me: kropotkin was a respectable moderate. and, like, fuck humanity, but we need to either try to save everybody, or make absolutely sure nobody survives the nukes.
Ventura has gone through a lot of shit with his wife and healthcare troubles, it's no wonder it's radicalized him toward the left.
the dudes always been midwestern pattern based, got fired from the wwe for trying to unionise
People getting excited for this seem pretty sad to me honestly, 70 year old man with no political or cultural relevance(anymore) says some good things about "socialism"(see: social democracy) and everybody cheers him up.
This is a perfect example of where critical support is appropriate. You should never buy into Jesse Ventura, but talking about the problems of capitalism (and calling it capitalism) is good, telling people that socialism is a better alternative is good, and getting these messages through to people who Jesse Ventura connects with is good.
with no political or cultural relevance(anymore)
Seriously? He has more influence than most podcasters or Tweeters you listen to probably. Especially among blue-collar/older/Independent people who're never going to read Marx or learn what a pronoun is.
At the very least, he's a bellwether. People who looked up to him in his prime, people still in his subculture will think similarly. And that's good.
If i ever claim that podcasters i listen to has cultural relevance, shoot me in the head because i've probably gone insane
I'm sure those blue-collar people listen to RT regularly
Jesse Ventura is still a former governor and there are a lot of people that know about him. He does have some cultural relevance.
Also, many blue collar people aren't that opposed to Russia.
Also, many blue collar people aren’t that opposed to Russia.
It has nothing to do with that, i don't have the exact data but i don't think RT has a non-negligable audience in those demographics
Sure, I agree most people won't here about it from RT. The internet is a thing, though.
Can't you just enjoy something funny? Does life always be to be such a fucking downer?
How am i supposed to enjoy this? This just shows that left's power is so low that Jesse Ventura saying "socialism good" gets people excited.
I've seen pictures of poop on pig's balls with more upvotes here than this post. People here will get excited about whatever weird shit, a former US governor saying nice things about socialism is something you literally would not have seen ten years ago.
I'm enjoying this because I used to listen to opie & anthony radio where they would make fun of the guy for being a conspiracy nutjob. he had a hilarious show back in the day; they once tried to sneak into a 9/11 museum to test shit for thermite paint.
also he's the former governor of Minnesota ya know?
imo alex jones/qanon people are closer to radicalization than the folks who are inspired by shit like this :liberalism:
Ventura might be some kind of proof of that. but yea, his platform doesnt mean shit.
yea, I mean I'm certainly not the type to believe in the power of persuasive arguments, especially over the internet.
I think the main way I got into the right->left lib->marxist pipeline was through watching yt videos of people making fun of dummy conservative pundits and the recommendations algorithm making me watch similar shit in order to make me watch more ads.
this kind of shift is very gradual imo, and even when I look back at my shift to the right back in 2016 it was similar. I was pretty much entirely at the mercy of content creators and some algorithm.
in conclusion, we need to find a communist Alex Jones. chuds would love that shit.
"They still have capital punishment (and we should use it on the rich)" is fucking awesome.
Are you for real? The guy used the word Socialism in a positive context and is advocating against billionaires. He's got a platform and some residual clout with boomers. Anything that will make them think is positive and exciting and an opportunity. Do you ever talk to chuds? getting thru to them is nigh impossible, their media is designed that way. This is a rare in.
Hey man, sometimes I just want to see my old wrestling idols agree with me
The Body is so fuckin based, I can only aspire to be a genetic jackhammer of his stature
maximum wage is an okay starter policy, a message, a "you literally cannot have more money than this, and if you think you should have more, we can give you a silver fucking bullet like the monster you know you are"
and like..... its not enough, but i cna't criticize anyone who puts it in place. especially if there are also attacks on generational wealth.
its not direct, but its an introduction ot the idea, to the concept that all societies require people doing things, only shitty broken societies require people owning things. it's a conceptual link more than anything else, a cultural shift. those are important.
It shocks me that nobody's used Antifa Supersoldier as their wrestling title/nickname yet
