Good thing the Israeli administration took part in a campaign of villification against Ilhan and Corbyn for their anti-Semitism.

According to the report, Holocaust denial was highest among center-left voters (23.5%) and supporters of the populist Five-Star Movement (18.8%).

once again I am proud to not be a liberal

What the fuck is going in with the Italian center-left? I mean, I'm no fan of liberals, but their bad positions don't usually include Holocaust denial.

Italy's government just collapsed again so I think the libs are losing their mind as all political parties prove themselves to be useless agents of capitalism. Even the new 5 Star Movement "populist" party has ate shit.

Leftists basically non-existent. Communists got gladio'd and merged into the Democratic Party (lib shit of course) Now the biggest party is probably going to be the far-right one :agony-limitless:

And now it seems like they're getting Europe's top banker Draghi as new prime minister for the time being, that is if he can find a majority in parliament.

All part of the same op, a rightwing radicalisation campaign funded by dominionist billionaires that's broken cover in the last 5 years imo. Yes I know how that sounds.

A while back a neo-nazi group in my country coordinated vandalism at a Jewish graveyard with threats and vandalism against Jews. This shook the nation, antisemitism is the one racism most people still agree to condemn here.

Our succdem PM condemned the neo-Nazi attacks but then immediately switched to blaming rising antisemitism on immigration and pointing out "immigrant communities and parts of the left wing" as hotbeds of antisemitism.

Wait wait hol up one sec..

On the opposite side of the political spectrum, about a third of those who identify as center-right or right wing said that Jews control the economic and financial powers and the news.

you can't just sneak that one in there and just leave it at that dude wtf

Headline: ITALIAN CENTER-LEFT LIKELIEST TO DENY HOLOCAUST

Buried in the article: Italian right planning Holocaust 2.0.

Killing Jews was secondary to killing communists.

Uhh but one of the main reasons they hated communism was because they considered it "Judeo-Bolshevism" - an ideology created by Jews to take over the world. You know, Eckhart's "Bolshevism from Moses to Lenin".

They came first for the communists, the socdems, LGBT+ people, the prostitutes, disabled people, and the Jehovah's Witnesses*.

I just don't think you can neatly separate "the communists" from "the Jews" and say one is secondary, if one of the main reasons they hated communists was because they considered it to be an "Asiatic" ideology disseminated and spread by Jewish people. When you look at the mass slaughter by Nazis on the Eastern Front, they were clearly linked. SS troops interpreting orders to kill Bolsheviks as orders to kill Jews. My Jewish great-uncle served in the Red Army and wrote home telling his civilian relatives to flee further east because "they're killing k*kes and commies out here". From what I understand reading accounts of people on the Eastern Front, that about sums it up.

I like the theory that the reason Ahmadinejad denied the holocaust happened was to make the west admit that yes, an advanced, western democracy was responsible for the most despicable event in all of history. He refused to believe it was possible they would do that.

I like to think Ahmadinejad denies the shoah because he's a raging anti semite but also because he exploits anti Jewish sentiments for political gains

I'm not sure how much the Italian sphere has in common with the Anglo sphere when it comes to antisemitism discourse. Is there the same dreck about how antisemitism is something inherent to left wing politics, but that it is understandable and in fact the fault of Jews when it comes from other places (being too left wing usually)?

Also, do yourselves a favour and don't read the comments. I'll sum it up by saying that the problem is muslim "invaders" according to them.

      It's the same sphere imo.

I know it sounds like I'm talking abut a bogeyman, but Bannon spending a lot of time with the right in Italy and the rise of the right there is not a coincidence imo.

There's a lot to read about his funding by the mercier billionaire family and how they are weaponizing social media, as part of a concerted campaign.

The rise in ethnonationalism having the effect that people get sympathetic to nazis, who could have predicted this :surprised-pika:

But it is slightly different to what I was referring to, but it is still related. Gonna give the pod a listen.
