So much so that I think the most important piece of class divide is how the bourgeois class divides and uses race and gender and sexuality and religion, etc to further sustain it's goals
I'm a class reductionist; the number of classes should be reduced to zero.
Tbh much of this site probably thinks Jacobin, MBS, Bad Faith, Corbyn, Sanders, Chapo etc. is/are class reductionist. Mostly I've seen it used as an intellectual smear over messaging and disagreeing over political priorities. All of people on the media platforms above imo do very much take into consideration intersectionality but are still accused of being class reductionist.
Well, Chapo is just ass reductionist, wherein everything intersectional can be condensed to shit takes.
for the longest time i called myself a class reductionist because i thought thats what everyone else meant when they said it
I literally learned from this post rn that that isn't the meaning of the term. I was pretty confused watch this community shit talk them for the ~2 years that I've been here, but was lowkey too afraid to ask why people don't like them incase people thought I was one (which tbh I thought I might be).
Words and their consequences have been etc :a-guy:
nah a lot of people seem to think that if you eliminate class antagonism the rest will just work itself out which is just ahistoric nonsense
The wiki for Base and Superstructure actually mentions this in the first paragraph.
And this is why I love all of my comrades. I'm not free until we're all free.
I'm a class reductionist because I think having big classes is leading to overworked teachers and increasing the amount of kids falling through the cracks.
I'm a class reductionist, I support the removal of the Heavy Weapons Guy from TF2
I was making fun of how class reductionism is stupid bc it ignores how class divides
A major part of the modern class reductionist argument is that the bourgeois use race and gender and sexuality and religion, etc to divide the proletariat and that the proletariat should ignore such things and come together. So I'm not seeing your point.
Example: "OWS was a class movement co-opted by SJW's" Has been said (in this community) to be a class reductionist take.
Oh see I was trying to turn the class reductionist argument around and say race and gender and sexuality and religion, etc are set up to empower the bourgeois class and that those systems need to be dealt with to fully take on class. Kinda like a "Go so far class reductionist that you're not a class reductionist anymore" type thing
you gotta deal with those things before
That is most certainly not the whole point. If you'd like to "deal with racism" first, be my guest. See you in 5,000 years I guess.
Dismantling the tools of oppression will end racism much faster than any alternative. People in developing countries are oppressed by developed countries solely through capitalist means.
Climate change is going to harm more of those people than anything else we can predict, and that will not be solved through capitalism. So if you'd like to wait until after the earth is a burning rock to get started on the class struggle, okay. There probably won't be any brown people left.Okay. I would call that "at the same time", not "before", but I get you now. I saw other people in this thread kind of misunderstanding the OP, and I just grouped your comment in with them, sorry. People get very weird about using "class reductionism" in a liberal way so maybe I'm on edge.
We will never be able to fix racism and sexism under capitalism. Defeating capitalism won't solve these problems but will progress these issues forward. If we ignore capitalism to focus on these issues nothing will change.
