Sports; i get the appeal but also the disdain/criticisms. I'm fairly nuetral on the matter. But some people treat it like a cult and its legit scary
Lmao what a bunch of freaks americans are.
Imagine unironically saluting your fucking television.
Something something Kim Jong Un's picture on the wall something something
I don't have a TV, so I hung a portrait of my father where a TV would go. that's what I salute and pledge allegiance to.
I pledge my allegiance to my dad of the United States of America...
Bingo! I’ve always had a low key interest in sports but I absolutely hate the culture around it. So the team I wanted to win, lost. Oh well. Why is the national anthem played before any game that’s insane! And the ads are just ridiculous. I just wanna drink beer, eat some chips and watch some dudes throw around a rubber ball. I already have internet, insurance and I know where to buy food.
Sometimes I wish I was veteran so I can shit all over these people. I hope any Chapo vets can do the same for me.
When I turned around with the wings I pissed and shidded all over myself
It's not even a good anthem. The French has more blood and gore. The German is written by a top-level composer and has drinking in it. The Soviet/Russian has an awesome tune and mentions the party of Lenin. And the one true anthem, the Internationale calls for a proletarian revolution.
The US anthem is cringey even for an anthem. :amerikkka:
The full version of the US anthem swears enmity against slaves the British freed to fight against their former masters... and was written by a slave-owner who fought against abolitionism to the point of prosecuting Whites for possession of abolitionist literature. Dead anthem.
Still better than O KKKanada
Man anglos just have shit anthems no matter where they settled, don't they
We should just change it to the McDonald's "I'm Lovin' It" jingle.
The connection between sports and military is one of the most blatant examples of propaganda and people act like it's very normal and makes sense.
If they ever make super bowl sunday a federal holiday they should call it jingoism day
Still not as bad as Columbus Day, Presidents Day, Veterans Day, or Memorial Day though.
Fun fact, the NFL only started playing the anthem and such before games in the early 2000's, when they were trying to gather troops and support for the surge in Iraq/Afghanistan. The Department of Defense used to pay the NFL to do all the flag worship, maybe they still do
Yeah, unfortunately I feel like this is one of those things that can't be put back into the bottle. The anthem will never leave pro sports now.
Probably not; chuds would lose their shit and talk about how whatever league that stops doing it are anti American
I'm only watching so I know what my students are talking about tomorrow with commercials and who won and how the refs screwed their favorite team lmao
