This post is obviously still full of people who swallow the propaganda but there’s a surprising amount of comments calling it out, and I’m noticing that as a trend across posts. Link to the post

Am I the only person that find the American trust in media INSANE: "Ok, we lied about Vietnam! But Yugoslavia is serious!!"

"Ok, we lied about Yugoslavia. But Iraq is SERIOUS!!!"

"Ok, we lied about Iraq. But LIBYA?!?!?!! THAT'S SERIOUS!"

"Ok, big L in Libya kinda lied! But Syria, now this is the truth that Assad is lethal!!"

"Ok, massive lies about Libya, Syria and Iraq. But. Guys seriously trust us on this Uighur thing?!?!?"

No, we all see it’s insane. Parenti on Yugoslavia is what really sent me down the path of being a leftist

Yugoslavia and Libya are the two key reasons why Hilary Clinton will always be one of the my time-machine-kills. The audacity of the Liberal media to label a woman that created open-air slave markets a "FEMINIST" is disgusting. This woman took Libya from a place where the women were they most educated in Africa to the most enslaved.

SAME. Fucking witch deserves to see justice by the people she has wronged and ruined, but no justice will ever give back to these people the futures she has stolen

A lot of the people who still trust american media don't believe they lied about any of that stuff. They think the media simply went of the information they got but got it wrong. They're the people who think the US government invaded Iraq, didn't find WMDs, and just said aw shucks we really thought they were here, our bad! They don't realize they're being lied to.

Hello am baby and wasn't following news at the time of any of these. What lies did the media say about Libya, Syria and Yugoslavia?

I absolutely would believe if the evidence was there because I like to be very critical of my personal beliefs on things like this so I can try to see past biases. I don’t think China is doing NOTHING in Xinjiang, but what makes testimonies really hard to believe is when a literal CIA translator for Guantanamo does a Reddit AMA as a uyghur victim and gets exposed for it. There should be plenty of evidence for this since its apparently millions of people and been going on for a decade now, but we keep seeing the same three people popping up telling stories that change each time or have no evidence

Also yeah I’ll plug a link to that AMA in my comment mentioning it.

Hard to navigate is right. I literally have no idea what's going on in Xinjiang. I know for a fact that the US has an interest in pushing propaganda around it, even have direct evidence of said propaganda, but it's not like China is completely trustworthy either. Every time something like this is posted on reddit there are plenty of people completely sure that China is evil and horrible, plenty of people sure it's a lie, and people accusing each other left and right of being shadow mouthpieces for one state or the other. I'm pretty convinced that the confusion is intentional at this point I just don't know what the reality is. I'm tired of trying to guess but I don't know how to find the truth.

My feelings are I don’t really know what’s going on. I don’t think China is necessarily doing nothing wrong, but I really don’t think they’re worse than what ICE is doing to Latin American immigrants.

I’m not going to trust anything that cites Zenz and frankly, I’d rather focus my energy on stopping the horrible things that I know for a fact are going on in my own country.

The article heavily cites RFA, UHRP, Rushan Abbas, and Zenz. She also literally lives in Virginia, but that might just be a wild coincidence. She was also granted asylum during a time when asylum is hard to get in America. Almost like having a crazy story might bump you up in line.

I’m definitely skeptical about whether or not this propaganda flood is getting better of worse but it seems as the spamming of anti-China articles increased I’ve noticed a huge (and disproportional) increase in people calling out the bullshit. Like I regularly see people with non-commie post histories calling out posts citing Zenz, which if we are being honest, is about 80% of the articles

This is what the Libs call polarization. The anti-China bandwagon is larger than ever, but so is the response.

I don't think you'll ever get the majority of Westerners backing China on this, but it's inevitable that as the subject becomes more popular to discuss, both sides become more prominent.

That’s definitely better for us then. As people see through western propaganda more readily the constructed worldview will slowly melt away

I mean the article posted is literally from fucking Voice of America and it quotes Zenz and cites a BBC article which also quotes and cites Zenz. It really doesn’t get much more blatant than that so it’s obviously a low bar to clear, but it has been cleared by quite a few

As someone who can't help reading most of the China bad threads, I wouldn't say its "sharp", it really seems like the result of based posters calling it out with examples/sources every thread. I used to get straight downvoted months ago, it definitely got better over time. It also helps that if you reply to an ignorant top level comment the type of replies you get are always easily dunkable so you look even better.

I’m completely serious it really feels like I’m seeing a massive uptick in people calling out obvious propaganda. The comments on the linked post are obviously cancer but there’s some actual pushback that isn’t just downvoted into oblivion and is actually upvoted pretty highly

Funnily enough I see liberals getting wise to this faster than "leftists" that swallowed the propaganda.

The leftists I know that always wanted to give off the appearance that they're ultra-woke for believing it and care about muslims the mostest are doubling down on it. Liberals on the other hand seem to not be very invested in maintaining that narrative and are paying more attention to the counter arguments.

Don't worry, I just looked at the page. Any rational comment was buried under hordes of glided upvoted astroturf.
