at this point i fucking hate nintendo so much man
yes - in socialist europe you are forced to buy every single nintendo product
Groose is the best Zelda character ever and no one can convince me otherwise
Nintendo is a shit company but I don't really get this. They are not marketing it as anything other than a port with slightly better graphics. All they're doing is bringing it to a new console. I'm not saying that they're doing a good thing, but I don't think it's worth getting mad over.
Also scalding take: BOTW is the worst (3D) Zelda game. Skyward Sword is very good. The motion controls can be janky occasionally, but they are not nearly as bad as internet nerds say, and are ultimately a net positive for the game. Also it has some of the best characters in the series. Also it's got imo the coolest art style of any of the Zelda games. All around a great game and gets way too much hate.
Edit: And to clarify I absolutely love pretty much every 3D Zelda game. BOTW is still a very good game. But it's got a lot of competition
BOTW is the worst (3D) Zelda game
You're [redacted]. You mean you actually like playing through two hours of tutorial and then a twenty hour main quest where every single action you take is preceded by a tutorial that is a repeat of a tutorial you already got? I mean, you do you fam, but for my money BOTW is the only good 3D Zelda game.
Is there a good replacement that gets the sentiment across while having a similar impact? Out of your mind?
My first was Ocarina too, but to me it seemed like every game after that doubled down on the things that I only tolerated in OoT because the rest of the game was so special in its time. BOTW (and before it, ALBW) bucked all of the trends that had been dragging down the other 3D Zeldas, though the one baby they threw out with the bathwater was the dungeons which had always been a highlight of the games and now felt like an afterthought.
If there was a way to repair weapons (or set a couple favorites to not break via some mechanic) in BOTW and the variety of content was expanded it would be in the running for best Zelda game IMO. The open world, how you explore it, your slate powers and the overall aesthetic are incredible, but when you get frustrated every five minutes by an item breaking and it feels like the three main types of content (the big dungeons, the challenge dungeons and the korok seed puzzles) are basically following one of three uninspired formulae it gets old fast.
Curious to see if BOTW 2 manages to learn the right lessons. Apologies for Gamer Posting... back to this weeks Trashfuture!
you get frustrated every five minutes by an item breaking
I really like that the game didn't let the player get comfortable on any piece of gear. Knowing that everything will break keeps you looking for more - if you make the gear repairable then players will lose one of their major motivators for exploration, if you level the gear to encourage players to look for new stuff then you're not making a Zelda game anymore you're making fucking Skyrim.
First Zelda game I looked at prior to release and said 'nah'. That's not changing. Super cool that they took a game from 1993 made it look like funko pops and charge full price for it as well.
Love Link's Awakening but I'm not paying full price for a straight remake with updated graphics and they shouldn't charge full price for it either
The nintendo console ownership cycle is buying their hardware and only ever playing 4 games that piqued your interest.
If I can play Skyward Sword without being tethered to one of the shittiest control schemes ever devised by man then Nintendo can have my $60. I don't hate the Wii, I just hate the Wiimote.
Also the new $60 Super Mario 3D World DLC is a jam.
Oh, are they making another remake of Wind Waker? hot air balloon made out of my brain which I am floating in is instantly peppered by arrows, causing the air to fizzle out and me to crash horrifically to the ground
Stubbs the Zombie
Skyward Sword
Ninja Gaiden
Legend of Mana
So this is the power of gaming in the 2020's...
Whoa, wait they're bringing back Stubbs? That's kinda rad actually.
Hope they can get the rights to all the tracks from the dance-off, cause that shit slaps
If they legitimately improve on the games because they were held back in some way by technological limitations I'm all for it.
They're taking the farts away? Even Nintendo kinkshaming smh :angry-hex:
I am such a blatant Nintendo soylord cause they've had their hooks in me since I was a little kid so I feel attacked. I will probably buy that Mario Golf game. 🏃♂️
Shittiest Direct this side of me directly shoving my poop into the kitchen sink
That Square strategy game did look pretty good. Triangle what the fuck ever.
Ah, but they let you replace the pretty bad control scheme gimmick with one that sounds even more awkward, that's gotta be worth at least sixty euros.
You can't really do that because the game is designed around the motion controls and they'd basically have to remake the game from grounds up
Kinda? You can direct sword slashes with the right analog stick rather than the motion controls.
Where’s my goddamn Dante Nintendo? I know you have him, I want my wacky wahoo pizza man in smash already you fucks
Skyward Sword fucking rocks, and the motion controls were superb. Pure chefs kiss shit.
