It seems so unimportant to me to focus on the tendency / the historical individual they supposedly look up to. Like really, what does a "trot" actually do differently than an "ML" in the context of American politics? I think this concept needs to be combatted in favor of left unity.

Also, participating in elections is good, especially when successfully doing so explicitly against democrats like Kshama. I think "entryism" is doomed to fail because it puts the cart before the horse, before labor is sufficiently organized and militant, but that said I think it's a good exercise in dealing with power and helps spread propaganda.

Maybe I'm not well-read enough on tactical differences between trots and others, but either way I'm 100% in support of Kshama's type of entryism here.

I agree. This is more of a United front than entryism, and it’s part of a longer term strategy of building up cooperation and solidarity on the left

I've heard people have problems with SA, but Kshama Sawant is the best thing they've done. Maybe we can synthesize and make both DSA and SA better.

From what I've heard, they're going to vote to drop that clause in the next national convention.

I hope so. I've seen some arguments to keep it because it prevents entryist attempts which were very large problems in the past. However, I there can be ways to prevent entryist take overs without anti communist shit.

honestly a few entryists would do the DSA good they are still far too lib and friendly with democrats, get some crazy trots to balance it out.

There are a few caucuses in DSA trying to do that already, like Emerge or the Communist caucus. Jamie Peck brings it up every once in a while on the Antifada.

National is. But local chapters might not be.

Yeah, I don't think there really is a threat of entryism anymore.

its not really against the bylaw its just a clause that can be used if there is reason for that member to be expelled. lots of people duel card

As previously been mentioned, the clause will probably be dropped. But there's been talk about that for years and it hasn't, so who knows.

However, it's so unused, that if it were to be used, it'd probably cause such a stink that national would overturn any chapter expulsions based on it. Like, it would have to be things that would be expulsion worthy even without the demcent clause considered, to stick.

Does the DSA even allow non-Democrats? Isn't their whole point Democratic party entryism.

The DSA is not affiliated with the democratic party although they do occasionally function that way. You're probably thinking of justice dems

They lost a lot on too many fronts, given that Biden's whole schtick was that it was okay to vote for him and split your ticket.

They allow non-Democrats. Many local branches have endorsed independents and green party candidates. It again depends on branch. Also it is noteworthy that most local races are officially non partisan so you can technically run as DSA.

Trot group actually joining instead of splittin', I'll be surprised if it actually works out instead of splittin' DSA, which isn't a bad thing...
