at least they got the left wing 'write a long ass screed to repeat the same thing 20 times' down. this is in response to luna's "Do Vietnamese workers have RIGHTS? Labor Law in Vietnam! - Luna Oi!" video
Who are you gonna believe? That lady that knows stuff or me and my imagination?
Yeah I’m not reading all that. Happy for you tho. Or sorry that happened.
Mm yes, have you considered that it's actually the countries that identify as communist that deserve criticism? I am totally a leftist and my understanding of geopolitics is definitely greater than a child's.
My comment about Trotskyism/left opposition got removed by the mods the other day for sectarianism, so I will reproduce that here in a more politically correct manner: there is a diversity of leftist opinions and there will always be leftists and socialists who see AES as red fascism, capitalist and imperialist, but this doesn’t make them any less of a communist. Trotskyists by all accounts are legitimate communists, they simply believe that the American imperialism is preferable to Chinese imperialism.
they simply believe that the American imperialism is preferable to Chinese imperialism.
The level of in that statement. Anyone that actually believes that is a stooge of America, full stop.
I don’t want to be branded as a sectarian here, so mods feel free to delete as appropriate.
But go and read what the Trot/ultra websites say about China and imperialism. I personally don’t agree with them, but I want to emphasize that they are still communists and have their own logic in their critique of AES as capitalist/imperialist powers.
its not sectarian to be anti-sectarian. trots that have anti-china derangement are sectarian (and not particularly different from an average sitting socdem in congress)
That's like saying that white supremacism is preferable to brown supremacism or that patriarchy is preferable to matriarchy. It's a flawed premise based on equivocating between a construct that exists solely for oppression and a construct that within the same framework exists solely to be oppressed
I don't care what you call them, they're pro-west
I can understand some communists having a mostly negative opinion on various AES states and modern China. But when it gets to the point they believe it's somehow worse than American imperialism it's just propaganda-fueled brainworms.
workers in capitalist countries have even more rights than their Vietnamese counterparts
Yeah because as this person themselves has said a few sentences later, megacorps from those "capitalist countries" exploit Vietnam for cheap labor and resources. Not because of the Vietnamese government directly exploiting it's citizens per se. Vietnamese workers in a Samsung factory for instance are still employees of Samsung and their treatment needs to be accounted for when discussing the "higher level of human rights" possessed by "capitalist countries", not just the local workers onshore.
It's not Vietnams problem that the western left can't even organize itself into a coherent enough political force to stop our governments from pillaging third world countries on threats of military and economic violence.
To suggest that countries in the west have "mechanisms" to "protect workers rights" is a bit silly too. They need to clarify what this means beyond having enough resources to avoid mass sweatshop labor on home turf.
It is very strange for "Vietnamese leftist" to speak such good English, and they know those policy of the US states. Why do they know this?
The very last sentence only seems like something a Pol Pot fan could have said
my biggest complaint is that they downplay the struggle the global south faces from external forces and also endorse sectarianism.
it is also one thing to have ideals and to want workers to be living better lives, it is another thing when you try those ideals, and keep failing to succeed at achieving those ideals over and over by the metrics and refuse to change. they forget history if they do not think vietnam had tried these things before courting international capital like china has. not evolving in the face of these external forces leads to collapse like the soviet bloc and many millions of deaths.
No it doesn't, unless you're willing to ignore the precarity of socialist projects which have to contend with global capital's imperative to destroy them
I skipped the wall of text and just read the beginning and end, and it's always the same type of leftist who wants a perfect socialist society instantly. The next colour revolution attempt, they'll gladly join in, and if its successful, they will be stupidly wondering why the result is more rightwing than before....
it is interesting to me that luna seems to have no pushback in the form of video responses from other people living/that have lived in the vietnamese mainland. just commenters which are hard to verify
makes me wonder if there is reply content to luna on vietnamese platforms. but i wouldnt even know where to look, i think most of stuff in vietnam is on facebook? kinda an L on their part.
Well, to be fair, I'm not good at law
Cool, I'm glad we can ignore your tl;dr comment then.
