Now please, make sure to lay crossways in the furnace--we need to maximize our sacrifice to mammon.

A csgo streamer I like to watch (but is a pretty generic dumb g*mer) lives in Texas (and had covid) and was saying that going to the gym should be a "personal decision" and I'm like, this is what's wrong with America. You can't make pERsOnAL dEciSiONs in a public space during a pandemic, you selfish idiot.

The problem with America is that some idiot with COVID walks into the gym and everyone else just sort of ignores him, rather than fucking flogging his ass.

Public beatings in a country famous for carrying guns everywhere seems like a bad idea. So that part might actually be a reason why we don't see that kind of behaviour.

There is a marxist explanation, namely the rate of profit is so anemic in the industrial west that even something as obvious as a quarantine and temporary shutdown cannot be done as it is too damaging to what little profit there is. The covid shit is a little microcosm of capitalism response to climate change - complete paralysis and inability to do anything different while retaining the same logic of production.

Is this his way of apologizing for the state's poor response to the snowstorm?

Gonna suck when the state also has a poor response to another Covid surge :deeper-sadness:

Killing off your main voter base.

If only. No. In Texas, all the old white shits up in the suburbs just work from home.

The folks who are dying are the service sector workers and the agricultural workers who don't have remote desk jobs.

They also happen to be the groups most heavily targeted for gerrymander and disenfranchisement.
