Has anyone seen anything from reporters who have said anything indicating which way the vote is going to go? Also when will it be announced? I’m getting nervous?
Fingers crossed. Bernie traveling there in solidarity was fucking cool.
if history has taught us anything, bernie showing up to somewhere that requires voting to succeed means it's not gonna happen
He's gotten some wins, but the dude knows most attempts are going to fail. Part of being a leftist is just spamming efforts like a psychopath.
Also Sanders is way too gentle. Gramps probably would have been shot if he was more aggro though tbf
Normally these things don’t go to a vote unless those attempting to unionize feel as though they already have the votes needed
This is how I feel about it. There must have been a lot of preparation done before any of this became public. I assume the union salts and organizers know exactly what they're up against. They wouldn't have pulled the trigger unless there was a viable path to victory. Of course, anything could happen, but the shit I'm seeing on social media makes it seem like the workplace grievances at Amazon are absolutely overwhelming. The public seems to be on the worker's side. Even grifters like Marco Rubio are trying ride the wave of animosity towards Amazon (though purely to misdirect class struggle into culture war bullshit). Meanwhile, Amazon's public relations seems to be flailing and exposing a degree of desperation which is not often revealed.
I think the union is going to win this one.
Yeah, but it seems like public opinion is on the union's side right now. It's very highly publicized
Why is forming a union such a bureuacratic process? Just make a Facebook group and declare yourself a union lol.
What do you mean "cant start"? A union is just a group of people lol. Like literally talk to people, agree to act in certain ways in unison and you have a union.
They have very specific rules about what you are allowed to strike for, how you are allowed to strike, and who is allowed to strike. Unions are also legally required to spy on themselves and report to the bosses.
Unions are also legally required to spy on themselves and report to the bosses.
What? Can you elaborate a little bit?
Your union has to be set up under the NLRA or else strikes are considered wildcat strikes, which are illegal in the US. In Canada, you may only strike for economic reasons as part of a labor dispute - no solidarity or wildcat strikes are legal.
You can still set up a union not under NLRA and unions were formed in the US well before unionizing came under civil rights protections, but its harder to do stuff and retaliation from bosses can be (legally) harsher. The West Virginia Teachers strike the other year was wildcat yet I don't think anyone faced any retaliation, it's not like it doesn't happen.
what the fuck. americans are literally slaves. like not even hyperbole, you guys are slaves
Full support for comrades if it passes, but they might not see benefits materialize for years. Big companies are notorious for holding up bargaining with new labor unions for years. The coverage and support has been positive so I'm hoping the couriers and packers have the energy to hold out.
Not that I don't trust you, but has someone reported this?
I can't belivw that it will work in this bad timeline.
Or they will let it happen just so they can crush it after to send the point home.
Yeah if it happens I can see Amazon completely shuttering it to make a point forever and across the nation.
