Every time someone hammers a nail firmly a million suburbanites flood the forums with “I HEARD GUNSHOTS! ANYONE ELSE HEAR GUNSHOTS? TERRORIST INCIDENT?”

Still deciding between that and “WHAT IS THE HELICOPTER DOING LANDING ON TOP OF THE HOSPITAL?” as my favorite genre of cracker neighborpost

I used to get nextdoor alerts in my email because I was looking for someone to housesit my cat while I went to rehab (and surprise nobody helped me) and the boomer psychosis over there is insane. Although the posts about random bears in the summertime were funny.

Nextdoor is the only platform I've ever gotten a temp ban on. I was arguing with a boomer about why the city had not re-paved her cul-de-sac and went and pulled up her property tax records by using the name on her nextdoor account. I used this to point out that, because of the fucked up way California property tax works, she was paying less property tax in a year than I paid rent in a month.

I got a temp ban for doxxing.

I think I got kicked from my neighborhood or something for saying Israel was a colonialist state and doesn’t have the right to defend itself under a pro-IDF post.

i kind of wanted to make a nextdoor to exclusively complain about military aircraft noise and see how many people i could get worked up but i think it'd drive me more insane

I feel like this thread convinced me to make a fake account and spam it with alerts of suspicious subjects paragliding.

I sometimes have a morbid curiosity and wanna check my neighborhood. But my mom tells me about all the "scary" stuff on hers, and it just sounds like boomers pissing themselves because they saw a pedestrian.

My neighbor has Ring which is annoying, because she's recording anything I say on my patio. But I guess they have their own social just like nextdoor, but with videoclips of neighbors.

One of my customers has multiple ring cameras at different entrances to the house and has called his next door neighbor who is WFH for most of the week to check out what the men walking on the sidewalk out front were doing. I'm sure their hi vis vests and truck with the county name plastered across the side were very scary for him.

Government goons spotted. What nefarious schemes could they be plotting?

In North Korea, the population is so propagandized that they willingly buy and install devices in their homes for those in power to spy on them

My sister lives a mile from a gun range in the hills and sees those posts on Next Racist constantly. Also alerts whenever a black man is walking through the neighborhood.

"Suspect is a black man wearing clothes between the age of 16 and 60" was a running joke for a while.

I haven't really looked there much, and just got assaulted by endless waves of "I THINK THE REAL OROBLEM[sic] IN SOCIETY TODAY IS A LACK OF RESPECT"

Huh, reading these comments on this thing, makes me think that maybe my own neighbourhood has this sort of stuff. All the whitebread suburbanites tend to cross the street to avoid me (I look vaguely homeless most of the time) so I'm wondering if I'm responsible for a few "alerts" in my local neighbourhood after going for a walk?

What if the West did what they thought the STASI did and it was an app?

Back when I joined next door someone posted a pic of a local urgent care and called it a baby killing factory. It got a ton of confused responses until someone figured out that years ago there was a clinic in that same lot that did abortion procedures back when it was allowed. Terrible app I don't recommend.

Living in an iffy part of town, I heard gunshots at like 3 am. Thankfully I woke up not a minute or two before that just to flip my pillow, sparing me a rough wakeup. Meanwhile, I think one of those apps has helped to make my dad in the suburbs more of a paranoid and irrational person over time. He has nothing to fear but raccoons going through his trash.

I check Nextdoor every now and then just for a laugh. It's usually old people saying stuff like "has anyone else seen this suspicious black man waiting at the bus stop looking like he's going to do something" or "I have a puzzle of princess Diana for sale. £15. Missing 23 pieces"

My dads on one of those and it's mostly people posting shit they need to get rid of. I got a free vacuum cleaner and a chair off it.
