Is this another instance of the mod log not telling the whole story? Anytime I see a recognized poster perm banned for anything other than being completely heinous I have to scratch my head a little. Making a bad post and then ban evading doesn't feel like it should warrant a "never come back" kind of response. This is just one example, I've seen it before with others too and have always gone "huh, really?" But maybe there was something they did that was so bad it was purged / doesn't show in the mod log.

Anyway RIP DayOfDoom we'll miss your weird ass posts. Unless you did something bad that the modlog doesn't show in which case I'll just delete this whole thread.

"Ban evasion" tends to be repeating the same things that led to the previous ban or, in DayOfDoom's case, referencing past DM harassment. We discuss any ban before it happens and consideration is always given to members of the community.

Oh dang, if he was harassing people in the DMs then yeah, he's gotta go. I guess I will leave this thread up though so folks can see your response here so folks know what's up.

Where did they reference past DM harassment? Was it their comment in the general thread (around 8 hours ago)?

yeah i definitely assumed everyone would understand that hexbear isn't a dating site, and that no one would earnestly do in real life an over the top parody of hapless nerd characters in an old teen movie.

we did actually get 5, which means we have around 15-50ish people each week that are cis women. in my sample we only had 1 (because the site for some reason only returns 300 results) but in the API there were 5 respondents

based on other surveys i've dug up on other instances we probably have most of lemmy's cis women, and blahaj has the rest. still a very small number that needs to be worked on

I tried publicly messaging dating proposals (on both knees, as per tradition) to every confirmed woman on Hexbear. Didn't work. Did the same for every non-confirmed woman or user with feminine-sounding user name. Didn't work. Tried making a sockpuppet account that I'd use as a "is this man bothering you ma'am" ploy amidst this, which almost worked but as soon as I DMed them from that account they somehow immediately recognized my posting style from the love screeds I'd send them (it's beyond love bombing, I'm a love terrorist and I'm detonating the vest). Got banned from all the Lemmies, so I can't do it there. Reddit is all neolibs whomst I won't even touch.

          wtf

@Infamousblt@hexbear.net I can't wrap my head around this not being a joke but I also know a guy who acts like this, not only with every woman he can find, but with JOB INTERVIEWERS. And he has a job?! He should be worried about tanking his reputation in the industry. It really bothers me even though I met him online and I accept that never comes with a full story or closure. Anyways, I think that may be serious. May God have mercy upon him at the Day of Doom.
