I don't see Biden losing unless he's primaried. Trump is probably going to end up a felon before the 2024 election happens. If there's no Trump, there is no Republican 2024 election dub happening. Biden may suck as a leader, but he is still a figure head of the Dems. Who are Republicans going to band behind, DeSantis? They have no leaders with enough charisma to actually make it happen.

Indeed, and the republican voting base is so all-in for him at this point I can't imagine them taking no for an answer at this late hour. The republican party simply cannot come up with an alternative candidate, everyone in the running is polling penny shavings compared to him. Even if there is some procedural technicality that the Democratic party can gesture to, it will ultimately come down to whether or not it's expedient to enforce those technicalities.

Which is to say, as always, the CIA decides who's president.

Most republicans would drop down to their knees and suck trump’s dick if he told them to. Most democrats would do the same for biden if he said that our “democracy” depends on it.

Trump literally wants to reinstate Muslim ban if he were to be re-elected. So long as Trump continues to make promises like this, it gives the Dems will have a lot of room to maneuver. At the end of the day, they still have to concede that Biden is still not as bad as Trump.

To presume Kaplya's point... they are making an observation on how the general American liberal voter will perceive it and thus vote Democratic over Republican. They are not actually claiming a belief that Dems are better on an actually existing way.

Obviously we all hate Amerikkka's inevitable Fascist speedrun that will occur regardless of party.

Are we just gonna get hit with 1-term presidents for the rest of these dying empire? That'd be incredibly funny, every rabid motherfucker running for president, one of them winning and subsequently shitting the bed so badly, they are replaced by an even worse asshole just back to back. Repealing laws and ruling by decrees left and right.

I am telling you that polls don’t matter.

Biden is going to promise a 20k student debt cancellation, and half of the people who talked about not voting for Biden again is going to tell you “Biden is really screwed this time, he HAS to stick to his promise this time”, and the other half will secretly go out to vote for Biden while loudly denouncing how shitty of a president he is at the same time.

Election day comes and… Biden WINS!

And to the surprise of no one, everyone gets rug pulled again, nothing gets cancelled and everyone now goes back to criticizing how Democrats are just as bad as the GOP and they’ll surely not vote for the Dems next time.

Rinse and repeat, come 2028 and they’ll tell you to at least give AOC a chance.

I’m telling you that the Democrats will win in 2024, 100% guaranteed. 2016 was a mistake and the establishment has fixed that since, in case you haven’t noticed. Trump never had a chance, and the Republicans never had a chance to begin with.

The ideological civil war within the Republican party ended with the take over by MAGA extremists (see Trump’s polling in the Republican primaries - yes, even though I said not to trust the poll). There is no chance that the GOP today controlled by a crazy MAGA faction can stand against the institutions of the liberal establishment.

There is a reason why the GOP today (which is managed by a faction that is fast losing its ground in American politics) has taken more and more openly extreme stance, because the Democrat’s strategy is to eat their lunch. Who’s better at getting racist laws passed? Who supports the police force better? Who is better at expelling illegal immigrants? Who’s better at ending COVID and masking? The smart racist conservatives have already figured out that Democrats is their ticket to getting what they want.

Liberalism only makes sense under periods where the empire is strong and either growing or at least stable.

When the empire destabilizes and contracts, fascism is always the response. And we're over the hill.

Who says liberalism is incapable of turning fascism? The Democrats will become the fascist brand, that’s the whole point. The Republicans are finished - they have been out-flanked, very skillfully, by the Democrats and proven themselves to be the incapable ones.

Even longer. This was said during the Reconstruction era and during FDR's administration. The Republican Party is a cockroach that seemingly dies and only ends up coming back stronger.

I didn't vote for Biden in 2020 and I won't go near a polling station ever again. At this point it isn't even Joe Biden, they mobilized to win the entire state of Georgia and they still didn't send a $2000 stimulus check. They are losers.

We’ve progressed past the need for presidents. Wild how nothing would change if we just did away with them completely and argued over which duopoly-led majority should get more power in Congress and which duopoly voter block is responsible for the supreme court’s decision to overturn the 13th amendment

Of course we haven't. Douglas Adams put it better than I ever could:

"The President in particular is very much a figurehead — he wields no real power whatsoever. He is apparently chosen by the government, but the qualities he is required to display are not those of leadership but those of finely judged outrage. For this reason the President is always a controversial choice, always an infuriating but fascinating character. His job is not to wield power but to draw attention away from it."

I'll be honest, I think Biden will still win.

The election is a year away, people have sort memories, and as elections grow closer more and more people will get "lesser of two evilism" brain. Honestly I suspect a lot of people who insist they won't vote or protest vote actually do sneak a ballot in for the Dems, cuz in truth they are scared of another Trump term but wanna keep their lefty cred. Heck, I'll admit, I did it last election, granted I lived in a state with mail in ballots which made it fuck all easy to do, also it was a solid blue state so idk why I bothered. I think I was thinking "well this will get the Libs off my back for not Vooootin".

Probably won't again, but again is doesn't matter cuz I still don't live in a swing state.

The news does a good job of ignoring international tragedies when an election is rolling up. And the fear of a second cheeto presidency will spook most left of center people to the polls. The Muslim population won't vote for him but I don't think they're a big enough bloc to swing anything as long a black people and college educated women still vote blue.

I'll be honest, I think Biden will still win.

I'm not sure he'll win, but i don't see it as any less likely because of this poll.

I think Biden won 2020 largely due to Covid. 1)because Covid was a crisis that dominated the end of the election cycle that would make any admin look bad, and 2) Covid allowed Biden to hide and not campaign, and kept Trump from doing the same.

On the otherside, Biden's only selling point was that he's not Trump, and despite what we here all know brump , he's still not Trump to libs. It's kind of a toss up at this point

I think approval ratings for presidents are going to stay low like this, because people are feeling the decline. Presidential approval is more of a barometer for how people feel like things generally are. We're not going to see Eisenhower numbers again, because no most people aren't ever going to feel that good about the country for obvious reasons.
