I mean, it's not wrong. The new government will pursue all the same horrific policies as Netanyahu, just with a friendlier face.

I doubt the friendlier face thing. Bennett is a genocidal maniac, he's less self-interested than Bibi and will absolutely annex all of the West Bank by the decade's end.

In 2018 a leading “liberal” zionist can think – & say out loud, on nation-wide TV – that Jews & non-Jews who fall in love with one another & decide to spend their lives together are “an actual plague” which he hopes to find a “solution” for.

Anti-miscegenation proponents are the worst. Brazen ethnosupremacists. Many more references: https://nitter.snopyta.org/davidsheen/status/101

I mistook him for another Israeli politician with the "a plague" quote, but he was head of the education ministry when it banned a book from schools which was about an Israeli-Palestinian relationship.

            https://www.dw.com/en/israel-bans-novel-on-arab-jewish-love-story/a-18952957

"Intimate relations between Jews and non-Jews threaten the separate identity of each sector," the Education Ministry said in a statement, adding that "young adolescents don't have the systemic view that includes considerations involving maintaining the national, ethnic identity of the people and the significance of miscegenation."

It's not supposed to, it's just there to oust Netanyahu and then call new elections

Create Your Own Thomas Friedman Op-Ed Column

"DISORDER AND DREAMS IN [COUNTRY IN THE NEWS]"

Last week's events in [country in the news] were truly historic, although we may not know for years or even decades what their final meaning is. What's important, however, is that we focus on what these events mean [on the ground/in the street/to the citizens themselves]. The [media/current administration] seems too caught up in [worrying about/dissecting/spinning] the macro-level situation to pay attention to the important effects on daily life. Just call it missing the [desert for the sand/fields for the wheat/battle for the bullets].

      Etc.

The article is from 2004. How long has Friedman been writing the same article? 30 years? Longer?
