This is based on many levels. First because traveling to Florida during the pandemic is a public health hazard. The second is that going full sanctions on a state for being transphobic is the kind of proportional reaction I often wish for from the people in power. The third is that it weakens the union and increases the chance of the US breaking up by just a bit.

Aren't sanctions problematic because they mostly hurt the innocent people, and barely affect the ones in power?

If you’re lucky enough to live in California anyway, why the fuck would you go to Florida? Go to San Diego ffs

Florida is a common tax haven for rich assholes. Like Montana and Delaware. Rich assholes register cars and businesses in other states to circumvent state taxes in Ca.

It's not a literal tax haven like Delaware, but it is cheap and easy to register cars (especially weird/exotic/illegal cars) in Montana. They also have no state sales tax. So it's not uncommon for a rich asshole to buy and register an expensive exotic car in Montana, and then just drive it in California indefinitely.

They also have pretty lax laws for vehicle inspections, and registrations. So it's pretty easy to get an illegal car registered in Montana. By illegal I mean it doesn't conform to US DOT laws for safety and emissions.

I have a friend that buys and sells rare cars, and he brags about doing this all the time.

It's a ban on state-funding for trips to those states rather than like, a lockdown or citable offense, so the Feds probably can't do shit about it.

Another Montana law overrides existing laws and allows businesses to refuse many services to same-sex couples.

    Fucking ghouls.

“The governor signed SB215 into law to protect the freedom of people of all faiths to exercise their sincerely held religious beliefs,” a spokesperson for the Governor’s Office told the Helena Independent Record in a statement. “Montana joins 21 other states with RFRA laws, where it has historically been used to allow Native American children to wear braids in school, Sikhs to wear turbans in the military, and Christian employers to refuse to cover abortions under their health insurance policies

One of these is not like the others

Sikhs sometimes have a "be ready to fight to protect" mentality due to their people's history. Its why many will carry a small symbolic knife on them to signify a kind of "ready to protect ourselves" type thing. Not all Sikhs will do this though, as not all wear the turban.

So some feel a kind of misplaced duty towards the armed forces. I'm sure someone else can explain this better than me.
