"i hear some debate streamers are good, idk. when i do a joke about debate streams just assume i'm not referring to whoever you personally have formed an unhealthy attachment to, and we'll be okay"

She was legit freaking out lol

She genuinely thought he was throwing the election with his tweets. He even said something about the imagining idea of Biden winning but Trump doesn't accept the result and no one can do anything about it because no one actually knows what to do.

Then when Biden started winning she started posting gifs of exclusively black women clapping and dancing which was extremely weird.

Big oof. I don't know if this is digital blackface or just somewhere in the vicinity, but like, it's so obviously weird and cringe. Just, what exactly are you expressing with this?

It's performative wokeness. "Black girl magic saved the election, but also keep those thugs out of my neighborhood" type of energy

I wanna give her the benefit of the doubt on this one, since for all her lib takes, Lindsay isn't an outright enemy to the left, I don't think. You're probably spot on with the magical black girl part of it, however. It's cringe, and to me it comes across as speaking for PoC or using them as props / sock puppets, even if it's not intended.

But then again, I'm also a white* guy, so I want to be careful not to do the same here.

I was probably being overly harsh with that, but I always found the infantilization of black people during elections to be pretty gross.

God that was so weird since literally earlier that week she made a post about how she understood people not voting in the general but urged people to pay attention to Downballet/measures.

IDK I think libs get super butt hurt at her for that too.

The thing about Lindsay Ellis is that she, like most academics, is really only intelligent in one area. I like her video essays, but I just have to ignore anything she says about american politics.

They got so mad over it. It was amazing seeing so many people tell him it was, like, morally incorrect to even lightly criticize Biden for fear that he might convince someone not to vote for Biden lol

Sometimes I miss being on twitter, it's funny sometimes

This shaun. He makes really long, boring videos about stuff like IQ, the nuclear bombs the US dropped, etc from a leftist perspective. Highly recommended if there's a topic among his serious videos that you aren't familiar with, because he's pretty good at laying out all the facts in an easy to understand and absorb way.

Imagining the amount of livestream footage he had to sift through to make that vid. Oof.

How does this guy have so many subscribers vs simi established left wing media outlets? Just curious. Being older it seems like a lot of leftist beef is basically vying for media space along generational preferences. Skull dude seems cool at first glance.

His vids ate like at 35k upvotes I watch alot of what I'd consider mainstream left media that only have like 10k or upvote or less. Just pretty amazing how audiences are cultivated I guess. Plus what the cross over from pod to tube is - chapo on YouTube doesn't have near that many people, they're in only less than 200 upvotes.

    Video essays- occasionally neat.

Debate videos - insufferable and horrible. Just never watch these as they are never actually about debating ideas, but just people trying to get dunks on each other. Go watch people play fighting games instead, you’ll hear better political thought than from a debate streamer.

    Aside from smash bros.

Other good YouTubers are Paul Morrin (actually the channel is Marxist Paul now), Yugopnik, Hakim, Vikki and Luna Oi. At least those are the good ML ones, anyone who knows good anarchist YouTubers should mention them
