With a relatively high percentage of elderly having already been vaxxed and a big chunk of the population either having had the shot or the disease, I'm willing to bet this will get milder over time rather than more sever. The Delta Variant was supposed to be more contagious than the original, but we've hit our peak sooner and come through lower than the peaks back in April 2020 and January 2021.
It's just going to keep ping-ponging around the country like a nastier form of the flu and picking off the weak and elderly year after year, while American normalize it like we normalized regular influenza.
