It gets even weirder if you go back to early 2008 because you get a very specific type of person that only existed in that year and that was the obama stans that also thought ron paul was good

Well, the world did end in that year, as prophesied. Everything since is the suffering of our dying brains stretched out to eternity.

The Ron Paul Revolution was such a wild thing. I really wish I could re-experience it knowing everything I now know. It had to be the first experiment in political astroturfing. If it happened today I would never believe it was organic.

My only guess is it means gay boys felt pressured into having straight relationships and therefore sex, and maybe do vaginal to make it "real" straight sex as part of that pressure.

Because like, clearly it's not talking about lesbians right? That would be an insane headline even for the time.

The Stranger is a reasonably left-wing news outlet in Seattle, it's definitely about being pressured into straight sex as a gay person

edit: check out their general election 2021 endorsements, it's :vote: shit but good for a laugh

I found the article, it's talking about a supposed statistic indicating that straight kids are having anal sex to preserve their virginity, and gay kids are more likely to get pregnant because they engage in heterosexual relationships to avoid harassment from parents and peers.

Which shows how useless western imperialist self-proclaimed "democracy" is. It can't solve problems, only give people the childish belief that merely talking about a problem is a means to fixing a problem.

Like when you give a kid a disconnected controller in a videogame so they think they have any control. It's actually worse than telling the truth.

Western people are the most propagandized people on Earth. With western imperialism collapsing, they will increasingly face some of the most brutal dystopian decadence in history.

It is true after all: fascism is imperialism coming home.

Real politics? Real issues? Those titles are fire! Now r/politics is all anodyne as fuck. Nothing but cult of personality posts about people in congress and election horse race bullshit.

He was an explicitly anti-war candidate in an era when every other candidate ran on "Bush is doing the war badly, elect me and I'll do it profesionally". IIRC he had a pretty groundbreaking (for the time) campaign ad where he compared the US's occupation of Afghanistan to China occupying the US. It seems to have been scrubbed off the face of the net, I'll try and hunt it down.

Of course, the mask fell off as time went by; he ended up being anti-choice, anti-any form of subsidized healthcare, and just all around yet another republican in pretty much every aspect, but politer.

EDIT: Found it! I loved this video at the time

      well for me it was:

fiat money = bankers = bad

gold = shiny and "natural" = good

ah simpler times. Then Marx finally told me why bankers suck

He was the only person who actually hated corporations and would have (tried) to breakup monopolies and heavily tax them. He was also pro gay marriage and pro weed. Basically he was the ideal early '00s libertarian before the party became corporate boot lickers.

He was about as free market as they come and I would be very interested in seeing evidence that he wanted to heavily tax anyone. I seem to recall him pledging to reduce the corporate tax rate.

He was good when it came to wanting to reign in empire. His anti corporate rhetoric was in the vein of like "oh that's not real capitalism it's corporatism" and he saw the rise of mega corporations as a result of the government meddling in markets

It's been a really long time, I could easily have my facts wrong. I remember liking him, but while I had anarchist tendencies then I had no clear philosophy. He at least seemed like he would have been less of a war criminal then any of our modern presidents.

2129 House minority leader Nancy Pelosi's cryogenically frozen head will step down (cough, cough) next year and Nancy Pelosi's grandson's cryogenically frozen head will take over.

I know, I know- it's very silly to assume the democratic party will still exist more than 100 years in the future.

Seemed a lot cooler tbh. Now it’s just astroturfed DNC propaganda. A sign of how much Reddit has regressed and how corporate it’s become.
