Keanu dated a trans woman for a long time, and he gave almost all of the money he made from The Matrix Reloaded to the special effects studio and other movie underlings who never get paid shit. Keanu is okay.

I seriously keep expecting something terrible from this guy, but he just seems super chill and willing to roll with it. It's like he actually took "be excellent to each other" to heart.

Keanu is far more wholesome and based than redditors will ever be, simply because he's a decent human being, something the EPIC GAMER REDDITORS simply aren't. Although, and here is the main question, how based would things get if he came out as a socialist despite his class interests ?

Honestly I tried to find hearsay of Keanu being an asshole and I never could. Every time someone is widely loved I always assume people are just dumb and miss the signs of said person being a piece of shit. With Keanu, I don't know.

Cases of hero worship that turned out to be good anyway: Fred Rogers, Keanu Reeves, Bill Nye

Borderline cases: Bob Ross (weird disingenuous brand shit, embroiled in legal battles over rights to techniques he taught and marketed)

Giant pieces of shit: literally everyone else the internet likes

I hate that there are zero women or people of color I can put on this list (although Keanu is biracial so there's that I suppose)

It is since you've seen them be wrong/misinformed/not informed at all so many times. The single most infuriating aspect of humanity is that we buy the press people write about themselves and judge by civility instead of morality.

I don't think they did. You can get behind something like, "Now that we look back on it, the writing came from our own struggles with trans identity and it can be seen in that light or influenced by it." But they didn't know and only come out with it years after they'd transitioned. I haven't heard their exact words so the media could have smudged their original meaning being something like this.

Keanu, I think doesn't see the point in making it an issue or commenting beyond, "I didn't know." Best case all he does is make trans identities feel alienated and feed toxic Internet commenters.

I certainly had no idea. Granted I was in like middle school when it came out and have only watched it a handful of times. It makes a lot of sense now that I think about it.

Whether it was originally intended as a trans allegory or not, it's a net positive that trans people can watch it and find meaning in it.

That’s the weird thing about art. It’s surprising how much your subconscious influences the things you make. I have always loved making art and, looking back at what I’ve made throughout my life, I can very clearly see how the subjects I chose to depict directly correlated to how I saw myself and the world in relation to me even when I was completely unaware at the time. I feel like it’s a really valuable way to come to understand yourself regardless of your skill or it’s “quality”.

Ugh, don't these liberal snowflakes know that "the red pill" is actually an allegory for how women aren't really people???

Redditors are fine with trans people. As long as they don't 'act' trans, don't draw attention to themselves, don't point out concerns with our society's treatment of trans people, agree with everything redditors say and look like they fit into conventional middle class american suburban norms.

That and the fact that the whole thing honestly seemed like an allegory for leftist movements before the whole transgender thing. Man who served as nothing more than a power source for his overlords and was made complicit with the illusion of societal participation/consumption is suddenly woken up and released from his shackles and offered a choice to continue in the illusion to preserve his old way of life or engage in an armed resistance for the sake of the liberation of the entire human race. Then he gathers up his vanguard party, reenters the matrix and fights a bunch of feds for 2 1/2 movies (who are all really just multiple manifestations of the same fedboi looking entity which is operating entirely under the premise of preserving the power of the current ruling class, machines though they may be). Meanwhile the rest of the proletariat has organized underground, (literally) and engages in a defensive conflict for the ownership of whatever resources are left in an earth hollowed out by centuries of capitalist "growth". They're commies, though probably not tankies, cus they use mechs instead. Mechies.
