I suppose I've seen some streamlining since I started playing (hunger removal as you said) but there are still loads of fun mechanics like mutations and the crazy stuff you can do with religions

Lots of stuff on GOG could probably run on your machine. They cater to games from the DOS up to Windows 98 era. They also carry indie games, a lot of indie titles have low system requirements. Check it out.
Piracy is very good, but GOG is like the only online games store I'd want to support by actually paying for games. They do good work reverse engineering titles to get them to work on modern operating systems.
Yeah and they remove all the DRM crap too. def worth supporting
Yeah, I'm not saying GoG is "good capitalism" but they are the only venue saving a lot of old games from being dumpstered over copyright issues or systems compatibility. I'm not a cop or anything but I do pay for my GoG games.

Can your computer handle a game like Noita ? Or maybe Dead Cells? You could also look into doing emulators and roms. When I don't know what else to play, I'll play something like Chrono Trigger or FF7.

Yeah once the spells start doing a lot of damage and destruction it can really start to drag on older cpus.

And it's one of the most fun little sprite/platformer/roguelite game I've ever played. The ludicrous spells you can cook up combined with the absurd levels of depth of gameplay and lore make for an extremely well made game.
noita is more cpu intensive yea? i run it on my newish but not great laptop with minimal issues
It's very CPU intensive in mid to late game for sure once you start making really strong spells and wands. But it plays ok on my midgrade 5 year old laptop.
i fuckin love noita tho. great rec. i got that mod that randomizes spell tiers so i didnt keep making luminous drill/chainsaw machine guns and it got much more fun
Yeah once you start throwing in mods to add spells and modifiers, the game gets a lot more interesting. I was playing it last night because I came across a video explaining all the lore that exists hidden in plain sight in the game. I had no idea alchemy existed in the base game. Plus all the shrines and so on. Crazy I've been playing it for a few years and never realized there was so much more.
You can probably do any emulation n64 or earlier. Maybe even ps1, ps2 and Wii.
Or old PC games. I've been playing through oblivion again and it's great. Haven't even began to touch any of the main quests, there's so much to do
