Didn't think this would be relevant so soon.
Clearly less traffic didn't help with a bit of extra snow weight.
In communist soviet north china the infrastructure is neglected because the oligarchs have picked clean the carcass of the country so bridges collapse from snow.
the oligarchs have picked clean the carcass
neoliberalism is basically pink slime political economy
Grey Goo. Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of a cancer cell.
A snow-covered bridge in Pittsburgh collapsed this morning, hours before President Biden's scheduled visit to the city to discuss infrastructure.
Say the words Joe!
:biden-troll: "Nothing will Fundamentally Change when I'm President".
Edit: I've just found out that the bridge was just outside the Hot Dog Dam Dog Park. Which I would also love to hear Biden mention.
Far far be it from me to defend Biden but this is like the one thing he actually passed a law to help with.
Kind of like how the Obama "shovel ready projects" were all doled out to high level donors who went way over schedule and budget and did terrible jobs? Because that's what happened where I live and everything is still falling apart lol
Oh yes. Any government infrastructure projects in the US are going to be laughably corrupt and occur at a snails pace. It’s just how it goes. But at least they’re throwing some money at the problems instead of ignoring it.
"Not 'first-world country'
'first world-country'"
I say as I hastily edit the the card.
OH FUCK!! That explains the blood dripping down from my ceiling this morning and the animals hiding away
With this and the ukraine fuckup it turns out the republicans might be right and the dems are actually trying to turn the world communist by imploding the US.
Yeah I wish he hadn't told me not to vote for him, I'd love to support him in this endeavor
Republicans are running with the whole "Biden cares more about Ukraine's border than America's border" and the opposition to them is "No you're a Russian agent shill". Dems are going to lose.
And they deserve to lose, they worked very hard to lose. Just a shame that they are going to lose to fascist psychos.
So many weird things about this, but I’m personally losing my mind about the fact that this bridge crossed Frick Park named after Henry Clay Frick who once neglected maintenance on a dam he owned and cause the Johnstown Flood
"After the flood, survivors suffered a series of legal defeats in their attempts to recover damages from the dam's owners." :porky-happy:
Comrade Joe Biden continues his protracted people's war against yankkkee infrastructure :07:
Are bridges not supposed to collapse when exposed to weather typical for the region?
they taught me extreme cold makes metal more brittle and makes existing cracks more likely to spread
One of these things is not like the other
edit: also, here’s the request that the tweet you referenced generated. Status: Closed. :what-the-hell:
Jesus Christ that's the bridge? Absolute minimal amount of steel and zero concrete.
Made in America baby.
Note in the second street view image, the bottom set of braces between the pillars appears to be missing. I haven’t found a “before” picture of this side to confirm whether or not this is by design, or if they were removed/fell off.
Edit: Well, fuck, it appears that the rusted beam was indeed fixed by them just removing the bracing. Jesus fucking Christ. Failed state.
You: Build better bridges and maintain them properly by adding support as they age or rebuilding them if necessary
:galaxy-brain: :Fixing a deficient bridge by removing part of it's support structure and not replacing it
The bracing can’t be in a dangerous, rusted out state if it’s not there :very-smart:
You think the bridge is structurally deficient, yet it has no structure :very-intelligent:
if only Biden had removed the weight limits sooner, this could have been prevented
So true! Wokescold socialists want our beloved Joe to fail smdh
