Love the irony here. Calling out war mongering USA who is slobbering at the idea of sending in the tanks is now "tankie" shit. :stupidpol:

The coolest thing in the world is relabeling anti-war sentiment as Tankie-ism.

It's got that old school War on Terror Energy, back when we used to accuse Quakers of being in league with Saddam Hussein.

I'm pretty sure back during The Great War you just called your political opponents hermaphrodites and threw them in jail. And post 1917 it kicked into overdrive, and everyone was suddenly a Bolshevik murderer out to eat a baby or something.

as a dirty gen z child, i keep thinking i've heard the end of the wacky bullshit that happened after 9/11 but there always seems to be some new bullshit about it that makes it even wackier

The good old days. I remember listening to an interview with the CEO of either Bechtel or Parsons claiming that anyone marching against the invasion was enabling Saddam.

Life sucked before 9/11, but it sucked in very different ways. There's no point trying to explain it. The country went entirely off the deep end in 2001 in so many big ways and subtle ways.

Except even dumber, because they're using a slur that's named for a weapon of war against anti-war people.

it has to be a bit

How am I being a chauvinist? I never said anything about women?

of course I know where Ukraine is, I'm a HOI4 player

the CIA knows more than the Ukrainian president

        it HAS to

I mean if your goal is to balkanize the USSR, it is.

In HOI4 it also shows the Ukraine's core states, along side Belarus's, resting in not just the USSR, but also eastern Poland's lands, illustrating that Poland historically stole people and their lands from the Soviets during their break away from the crumbling Tsarist Empire in the Russian Civil War.

I think the reasoning here is a western streamer would be less biased than a nation's president because of course western wrecker streamers who live on subscriptions have no biases at all

The streamers income is also from Amazon.

Every subscription also has a portion to Bezos.

The only good streamer is one who has no ads and no subscribers but many viewers.

Man I have no idea what tankie means anymore. I stumbled into a thread about the antiwork meltdown and one person went on a rant about the state of leftist movements that was pretty on point until the end where they were like, "we don't want money being spent on the military and guns like tankies and conservatives want."

I feel like nobody knows what it means.

I've heard it said tankies want "nothing short of a magical anarchist utopia" so it really means scary leftists.

        *CIA
probably. CIA has grand narratives. For example

“Conspiracy theory’ is a term that strikes fear and anxiety in the hearts of most every public figure, particularly journalists and academics. Since the 1960s the label has become a disciplinary device that has been overwhelmingly effective in defining certain events as off limits to inquiry or debate. Especially in the United States, raising legitimate questions about dubious official narratives destined to inform public opinion (and thereby public policy) is a major thought crime that must be cauterized from the public psyche at all costs… CIA Document 1035-960 played a definitive role in making the ‘conspiracy theory’ term a weapon to be wielded against almost any individual or group calling the government’s increasingly clandestine programs and activities into question.” – From CIA Document 1035-960

I have no doubt that the words authoritarian, crackdown, chilling, and the phrase "at what cost", is being used by the media because an entity (probably the CIA) directed them to do it. IMO "tankie" is a term that is rising. If it were a something you could figuratively bet on like memeeconomy, one would be wise to bet on it being used more to shut down critical thinking.

It doesn't mean anything specifically. People who have no idea what the history of the term is are using it to punch left.

No Ukrainian thinks Russia isn't going to invade

Except the president, and the defence minister who has repeatedly downplayed the possibility.
