Curious if BRI will happen there. It wouldn’t be approved by Russia since it would fix Ukraine and improve its infrastructure = more threatening if they were just desolate and miserable. Plus China doesn’t train local workers, so they’re gonna be sending Chinese workers into areas potentially filled with Nazis
Russia does not intend to keep a permanent desolate and miserable nation on their doorstep, thats not a plus. Anyone would want a more prosperous region for more trade and development, even capitalists. Imperialists go across the globe for a reason, there’s a reason why Mexico isn’t being invaded and bombed - it’s always far away.
Civilian infrastructure = / = military infrastructure necessarily. There’s plenty of nations near Russia, such as Kazakhstan, where China is getting more involved with BRI even after Putin stomped out a color revolution there at the government’s request.
