THEN MAKE THEM FILLIBUSTER YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT. MAKE THEM STAND THERE AND TALK THEIR WORMY, BLOODY MOUTHS DRY.

if you're going to be a useless, grandstanding liberal, at least GRANDSTAND.

ackchually the modern "filiibuster" is just mitch mcconnel saying "im filibustering that." They don't have to take the podium and continue to talk. This was changed because everyone in the senate is a fossil who couldn't stand for more than 10 minutes, but they all still wanted the excuse to do nothing.

I hate this "development" so much. At least Strom Thurmond had to piss on a bucket on the Senate floor while blocking civil rights for black people. Why do we let fuckers disrupt the process from the comfort of their orgy rooms

Yes, but also - it doesn't matter. In the Senate you need 50 votes in order to say that something can't be filibustered, then you need 50 votes to pass it. Democrats just did that with the debt ceiling in December. They passed a bill (with 50 votes + VP) that said you only need 50 votes in order to raise the debt ceiling. You can do whatever you want with 50 votes+VP in the Senate.

When Republicans control the levers of power: illegal wars, more border concentration camps, building the NSA spy program, the patriot act, making corporations the same as people, tax cuts for the rich, etc.

When Democrats control the levers of power: Govern? You want me to govern? Look, see that guy over there? His name is Jim Bob, a Republican senator from Idaho. Me and old Jim, we go way back. Agree on the important issues. Now, if I use my power to govern, Jim Bob's going to be real mad with me, might not send me a Christmas card this year. You wouldn't want that, would you? It wouldn't be civil to break up a friendship over a little thing like governance. I'm sure I can get Jim to talk to his colleagues and we'll come to a bipartisan consensus. And I'll let you in on a little secret. All that bad stuff the other side does that you don't like? We do all that too. Media just doesn't seem to care when we do it. Anyway, the parliamentarian said no on this one, but we'll get 'em next time. Remember to vote better!

Democrats ran on an infrastructure bill, a new voting rights bill, student debt relief, and COVID-centric health care reform.

They delivered a bigger military complete with a proxy war in the Ukraine, a new trade war with Russia/China, and a bunch of tax cuts for rich people.

Like, it isn't as though they aren't governing. They're fucking governing. They're just governing like a bunch of Liberal Republicans.

Just found Second Thought. Their video on Revolutionary Optimism is mandatory watching today. Good pipeline for libs that seems ideologically consistent.

Seen very little Hakim (usually prefer reading over Breadtube) but Hakim is the most based man on the internet. He's a perfect anathema to liberals, a god damn doctor in Iraq is telling you about the destruction of imperialism. You have no ground to stand on if you ignore him.

the sheer audacity of :vote: theatrics stemming from this is making my brain :sus-torment: that this draft opinion leak is some :galaxy-brain: DNC strategy for the mid terms

I'm stuck in a super-position of believing the Dems are that dumb and/or sinister.

I don't know about now, as you would need coordination with conservative judges or their office, but I am pretty convinced that they refused to enshrine abortion rights into law in 2008 to keep this as an issue to hold over voters and didn't fight for Merrick Garland or have RGB step down believing it would help Hillary and congressional elections. So, even if it is not in this specific instance, I am really starting to think they are that sinister generally.

First of all, bullshit. Second of all, the democrats had super majorities under Obama and majorities in every branch.

And they used the same excuses.
