went poking around the sub and found this

Democrats promised to codify abortion rights in the constitution during Obama's run. They didn't do it.

Democrats promised to forgive student loans during Biden's run. It's not gonna happen.

Relying on the Dems to fix this shit is like relying on the Uwalde police to protect school children.

All America needs to do is vote out Republicans and enact comprehensive free healthcare and housing assistance and UBI and strict regulations on businesses to become a socialist paradise! The more a country becomes less like America, the more red fash authoritarian it becomes! :galaxy-brain:

When I first came to this site I was a radlib but I tried to learn

At first, I believed most of the lies about China but then I started seeing how parts of the narrative didn't add up

The claims of genocide seemed untrue but what about cultural genocide? So I look into that and I tried to look at it from the perspective of the Uyghur people and what I discovered made me incredibly angry with the people who lied to me

A cultural genocide was attempted in Xinjiang but not only were the Chinese government not the perpetrators, it was the CPC that saved the Uyghur people and their culture from the ravages of fundamentalist Salafism imported by Saudi Arabia and supported by :amerikkka: through NED

When I watched a Vice video on the aftermath of China's crackdown on Muslim extremists and even they couldn't spin what the locals were saying to be against the government, I was even more certain and I can still remember the Vice propagandist interviewing an old man drinking in public and the old man saying, "I couldn't drink alcohol out in the open before, they would have killed me"

Then I learned the truth about Tibet and how despite the bullshit that stupid white western hippy pieces of shit who know nothing about history say, Tibet no longer needs to be freed

Tibet is free and it was China that liberated Tibet from feudal theocracy and a caste system that was barely any different from chattel slavery

The more I look, the more I like China's way of dealing with right wing fundamentalist religious extremists

There is a strange idea in America that politics end at the border. It's the reason why in prior times you were allowed to more or less have your own agenda with regards to foreign policy if you were a senator or a representative, especially in the 1980's and 1990's, when foreign policy had been entirely removed from popular participation. Didn't America used to have republicans who were friendly with Yasser Arafat and the PLO which today would seem unbelievable.

The average westerner does not know that the term genocide has a strict legal definition that requires a high standard of proof with clear intent for physical destruction of an ethnic, racial, national, or religious group. This means that you can have horrific atrocities, cultural destruction, and crimes against humanity, while still falling short of genocide due to the lack of sufficient evidence for genocidal intent. This is the reason why even historically pro-western anticommunist organizations like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International can credulously cite even dubious right-wing western atrocity propagandists like Zenz and Radio Free Asia, yet still do not declare genocide and opt for declaring crimes against humanity instead. Even the US State Department’s own lawyers determined that they did not have sufficient credible evidence for genocidal intent, but that did not stop Trump’s far-right neoconservative secretary of state from declaring genocide anyway. Articles in mainstream liberal outlets also argued against calling the repression in Xinjiang a genocide as well, although they still do criticize China for human rights abuse (as they should as the Xinjiang government has been conducting a counter-terrorism/anti-separatism campaign with overzealous enforcement, overly vague "anti-extremism" laws, and very little regard for due process):

It tends to vary a fair bit - and is often fine - but it definitely can have some lib takes sometimes. Apparently it does get brigaded quite a lot by the more right wing UK subreddits so potentially some of it is that.

Commenting again just to say that it isn't "whataboutism" when pointing out how the US, Canada, and Australia still have genocide going on that they continue to deny. The point is that they don't give a shit about Uyghurs and are clearly using it as political leverage, all while they continue to carry out soft genocide with their own indigenous populations. Cuba would have more of a leg to stand on if they criticized China than all the NATO countries.

The Dobbs decision pointed out that China and the DPRK have very permissive abortion access, can't quite remember the numbers (might've said something like both of them have no-questions-asked abortions for the first 20+ weeks, which accounts for basically all dont-want-this-baby abortions. Virtually all late-term abortions are done for medical reasons, which I have to imagine is perfectly acceptable there too)

Here's uhh, the truth about that "reducing non-medical abortions" clause https://twitter.com/isgoodrum/status/1540517124317188096?t=q37oIiTDt0fCPCT25jfBrw&s=19

TLDR: "So an honest examination of the context shows this isn't a campaign to restrict abortion, it's part of an overall policy of expansion for contraceptives and reproductive health which will, among other things, reduce the volume of abortions organically."
