There’s been a lot of weird, hamfisted product placement this season though. At 18:00 in the new episode theres a whole 30 second long product placement for Kirkland whiskey and it’s suuuuper awkward. There were similar scenes with other things in previous episode, and it’s always so weird. Like fully saying to the camera “Oh, Kirkland whiskey! Let me take a drink! Mm mm, I do love whiskey!”
Which i think is Costco brand whiskey which makes it extra weird
I thought those were weird too, but because it was a cult leader giving out Fresca, a weird soda that literally no one drinks, it actually kinda worked for me and made me chuckle. Like “Yeah, that guy would be giving people Fresca”
Quite a few American spirit brands are simply licenses which allows companies to put their name on what essentially comes from the same distillery. The big box liquor store I'm an on-off regular at has its own whiskey line which comes from a deal with Sazerac all the way in Lousiana, about a thousand miles from where I live. So I'd imagine Kirkland whiskey is decent but it's sure as hell a strange brand to promote "naturally" (as opposed to Jim Beam for Bourbon or Johnnie Walker for Scotch).

They’ve always made their product placement as obvious and hamfisted as possible. remember the fresca stuff in season 2?

Wait that's a real soda?
Yeah, it’s a Coca Cola brand. It’s like sprite but worse.
:kombucha-disgust:
Yeah
Wait fresca wanted to be shown in that light

I actually find it hilarious, they seem to make it as awkward as possible as a joke.
I'll take it over ad breaks
