This is something I say for people that are skeptical of communism. "The Soviet Union was so powerful it doesn't even exist anymore and people are still scared of it." and "If it doesn't work then why are you afraid of it?"

the signs of creeping annexation by Russia are mounting and some residents fear a return to Soviet times.

ukraine is so anticommunist that residents of a city think that russia wants the ussr back

I have a strong suspicion that Bandera worship is more popular now that it was 30 years ago.

2014, Euromaidan, Poroshenko, Yatsenyuk, formation of azov battalion, etc. had a lot to do with that, although the CIA has been undermining and nazifying Ukraine since 1953, starting with operation Aerodynamic.

I can't believe I just read the words, "In occupied south Ukraine," on Hexbear, and it wasn't part of a bit.

I wasn't commenting on the politics, just the phrasing of it read like one of those "In bad country..." bits. I guess the bits are parodies of headlines so I'm just too online.

reuters and the associated press is really pushing hard on red scare, I read one of their articles a few days ago about Putin visiting Iran, every mention of "Russia" is replaced with "the former USSR".

They fear returning to a time where the most lucrative industry for proletarian woman WASN’T commercial surrogacy for rich Western Europeans whose own countries outlaw such business?

Standard of living in Ukraine right now (or before the invasion, if you want) is still below 1991 levels.

Don’t worry though, Zelensky just spoke to his good friends in Europe and they are this close to letting Ukraine in the EU! Just gotta grind a few more of their citizens into paste before that happens
