one of the first things I saw Fraser in after his time away was this miniseries remake of the 70s Robert Redford flick Three Days of the Condor. the remake was just called Condor and I couldn't find it on any of the streaming services, so I had to head for the high seas. I think it was made in Ireland, though taking place entirely in the US. season 1 gave me "no wonder I can't find this in the states", because it's deeply critical of the CIA... not unlike the o.g. movie, but definitely updated.

anyway Fraser plays a contemptible asshole enmeshed in a completely corrupt conspiracy and I remember being pretty blown away by him.

just watched the pilot episode and damn this is pretty good

false-flag bio-terrorism might be too real post COVID with the Ft DeTrick lab leak theories floating around

yeah, i loved S1. i define a good political/spy thriller as one where, when i am watching it, i have to periodically remind myself to unclench my jaw take a deep, cleansing breath lol. i gotta hand it to the makers of that show... they made the baddies terrifying. you're making me want to watch it again with post-covid eyes.

While trying to find the trailer (unreleased to date), I stumbled across a youtuber talking about reading the play the film is based on, and it did not sound so great thematically on things like body-shaming and medical/health care issues.

But who knows what they did to adapt it? The play definitely sounded like some sort of im14andthisisdeep new atheist claptrap from the 2nd hand description.

Very conflicted between how much I want Frasier to do well and how awful this film sounds

interesting, spent a few minutes trying to find a trailer, but found an article that mentioned none had been released yet

normally when a film is gettting buzz like this the trailer is readily available, but I guess this is indie territory, so they might be waiting til closer to the general release during the winter

Oh dang it's a Darrenofsky film. I will def see this. I'm of the few people I know that enjoyed mother!. Aaronofksy has some flaws and I don't like all of his output, but it is consistently interesting.
