China is sticking to its ‘zero Covid’ policy.
Xi Jinping doubled down on the idea that the measures have saved lives and vowed to continue the stringent set of policies.

Insane framing
Literally "The Emperor Has No Clothes", except the Emperor is Nurgle and we are all lovingly blessed with his attention.
In bad country, the brutal dictatorship forces its population to not die from a pandemic.
there's a bit about the Vietnam War where some US general was questioned about whether the bombing of civilians would cause them to turn against the Americans, and basically answered "well, these orientals have different ideas about death, so they won't really care"
turns out, it was projection all along (as usual), and it's Westerners who are the ones willing to just callously let a bunch of their population die and pretend everything's fine
you're probably thinking of Westmoreland
"The Oriental doesn't put the same high price on life as does a Westerner. Life is plentiful. Life is cheap in the Orient."
that quote is completely insane. libs really take the nyt seriously even though they're putting out drivel like this lmao
Death to America
All the coverage of China's Zero Covid has just been deranged death cult worshipper shit. "Prioritizing human life before stock market gains; Does it offend Dread Lord Bucafas, Duke of Hell and commander of one hundred and seventy seven legions of demons?"
We must restore destined death, graceless tarnished
Literal Demonic ramblings
The capitalists and their dogs are really feeling themselves
the idea that the measures have saved lives
The idea
idea
I'm going to fucking [REDACTED]
No, you see, China is lying about their numbers and have had even more people die to COVID than the USA. Even though it's been three years and no one has actually brought forward any evidence to back this up, but trust me, bro. :so-true:
Again and again I'll say it - In 10 years America is going to be massively burdened with people of all ages with severe Covid-related disability. There will be entire generations of young people unfit for military service because their cardiovascular system is so fucked up by Covid.
Meanwhile, the average Chinese person who never had Covid will be like a fucking super-soldier compared to people anywhere else in the world.
The failure to contain Covid was a huge national security failure that will haunt the US for decades.
I love living in a society where I am always one of the few people actually wearing a mask in public indoor spaces, which is the most common sense thing to do during the rapid spread of a debilitating, deadly virus, yet I am constantly questioning my own sanity since most everyone else no longer gives a fuck about taking any precautions.
The widespread apathy to COVID and its millions of victims is killing me and making me depressed like nothing else ever has. :doomjak: As well as the ignorance/hubris in assuming that just because you're healthy now means you always will be, even after repeated COVID infections.
Same. I was at a place today where 4 (including me) people out of 200 were wearing masks. I probably shouldn't have gone.
I'm confused and don't understand how this imprinting phenomenon would be a problem exclusive to the COVID vaccines. Aren't the newest variants vastly evolved from the original variants most people would have originally gotten exposed to if they didn't receive a vaccine first? Or does it have to do with vaccines not containing the live virus?
And I'm also struggling to weigh that against how unvaccinated people have historically had much worse health outcomes to date than those vaccinated.
Even if it was just the flu! We could wipe the flu out in a few years if we all just masked up during flue season.
We eliminated one strain of the flu just with the effort we put in already, and narrowed the remaining circulating flu strains down significantly, which should make flu shots way more effective this year.
I'm seriously considering upgrading from a half mask to a full mask bc apparently there's a chance of infection via the mucus membranes in your fucking eyes.
Very cool that a Jimmy Dore-brained guy I know will definitely claim this is because of the vaccines :agony-minion:
i don't, i've only heard of that clown in the context of him being a jackass with bad takes
:yea:
I used to watch him years ago but he's really lost the plot now
Lots of them already are. Whenever people post about all the post-acute infection problems with Covid there's always a lot of people going "Oh were they vaxxed? Is it the vaccine?"
I'm being completely dead serious. Not an anti-vaxxer.
Do we know the increase is not related to vaccines?
Doesn't look like there's an increase in China so I would say unrelated to vaccines
I don't think so. This is why drawing the conclusion that it was because of the vaccines is ridiculous.
"Hmm, what does '29.9% over what was predicted' actually mean? Maybe the comments will clear that up..."
-Sees the majority of the number of comments are blaming lockdowns and vaccines :shinji-screm:
and even worse when the linked article more or less directly debunks their claim (they say since the data applies to the second year and that's also when the vaccine came out, so B caused A)
U.S. deaths attributed to heart attacks, or acute myocardial infarctions as they are medically known, shot up 14% to 164,096 in the first year of the pandemic, April 1, 2020, to Mar 31, 2021.
Individuals who were vaccinated were 200 times less likely to have a stroke after having the respiratory disease. Those who had severe cases of COVID-19 were at a much greater risk of experiencing inflammation, blood clots and heart disease
Cool. Good. Cool and good. We definitely live in a timeline that is cool and also good.
So how concerned should I be about the chest pain I've been experiencing? Wish this was just a dark inappropriate joke
Did you have covid? Is this more an anxiety thing?
Do you have palpitations (heart skipping a beat)? Are your lips blue, like when you check the inside of them or the inside of your eyelids? Does it feel like your heart speeds up A LOT then slows down? Does it feel like a crushing pain or a huge weight on your chest? Does it hurt when you do exercise or walk or is it kind of random even at rest?
Either way you should probably talk to a doctor and not an internet stranger. If you feel like you can't get enough air and your lips are blue you and you feel a big weight on your chest you should go to the ER, don't wait.
that's the fun part: none of them :)
the two top causes of death (heart disease and cancer) can both be caused by the third cause (covid) and yet the fact that it's third (IT'S A NEW DISEASE AND IT IS EFFORTLESSLY THIRD) is used as evidence that its not a big deal
you died because your heart stopped beating. your heart stopped beating because you stopped breathing. you stopped breathing because you had covid.
ruled: heart failure. :cure-for-fascism:
That's literally how Japan cooks the books on crime stats. Dude gets beaten to death, if they don't have someone they're going to charge, it gets ruled heart failure.
Happens in the US, too. Suicides are probably wildly undercounted because of the stigma against suicide. I think it applied to the AIDs crisis, too, where coroners would list almost anything else than put down AIDs.
And it doesn't help that in most of the country coroners are elected with no required medical training.
Remember when tons of kids were dying from "Vape Lung" before Covid was ever detected in china but nobody understood why? Heard of anyone dying from "vape lung" since covid dropped? Funny thing about Vape lung is it is essentially a last ditch diagnosis for any undiagnosed lung/breathing issue. In other words if you have an undiagnosable respiratory illness and you vape you have Vape Lung."
Not saying that Covid was in USA before China... but maybe it was?
Some - I guess.
Biden's team, CDC director, and other elite "health" org people will surely have a zoom meeting and come up with a number that sounds plausible but not too politically damaging.
Look at this comrade implying that the US is still tracking Covid deaths!
its me, a guy in his 30s who, since covid, has a new permanent heart issue that luckily is fairly mild
but the real fun is there is no way to know if i got it from covid or just recently found out about it even though studies have shown it being more prevalent in young people with covid
but at least i live in america so any health costs involved with it are all out of pocket so thats neat
Acquired atrial fibrillation prior to age, let's say 55, is such a red flag for pulmonary pathology (sleep apnea, fibrosis, pneumonia, etc) I almost feel obligated to prove there isn't any underlying pulmonary issue when I see those patients.
Some people are just born with the Ford Pinto of cardiac electrophysiology, but that's a huge, separate and largely esoteric topic.
Some people are just born with the Ford Pinto of cardiac electrophysiology
Mfw thats everyone in my family :hypersus:
Wolff Parkinson White
Not to my knowledge, no, but everyone in my family on both sides have pretty bad heart/circulatory issues. A few have had the catheter ablation procedure however.
i understood some of those words
and yeah i have apnea too
and also other birth defects
Can't wait to see the numbers after another half dozen waves (or one extended plateau that never ends). I'm sure it will be good.
I did this except I didn't call anyone, I just puked on myself.
Don't drink a 100mg soda solo.
Aside from the cost of the ambulance, it's better to be cautious than dead.
My heart has been weird as hell since I had covid for the 2nd time. It'll be elevated and I'm just chilling or I'll feel in my head like my heart is racing then my pulse is fine. Also half the day it feels like a small child is sitting on my chest.
