I’m suicidal and don’t want to have the option in the house, at least for right now. I just hope that by the time I have my head on straight and have consistent coping skills it won’t be too late to arm up.

Wife suffers from depression that occasionally drifts into suicidal thoughts. Toddler hanging around & not being able to afford a proper gun safe and/or gun.

This is an excellent reason to not own one.

How are you doing these days?

I'm suicidally depressed and I think I have paranoia. Not gonna do anything about it though bc therapy is a scam and so are drugs. Plus dying isn't so bad, it can't be worse than working for a living

So sorry to hear it. I’ve had my battles with depression too. And holy shit antidepressants. I gained 30 lbs and got vertigo so bad that I fell out of chairs.

That said, my little brother killed himself 19 years ago, and I can tell you that it still wrecks our family every day. Suicide doesn’t solve anything.

It took me a long time but eventually I found a good therapist to work with and things got better for me. There’s lots of purpose to be found in life. The fucking capitalist pigs do all they can to take it from us. Fight back, make things better for yourself and others, and don’t let the pigs win.

Call a help line if you feel like hurting yourself, and you can always reach out here if you need to talk. There are lots of comrades here who have faced down the same dark shit you’re feeling.

You are strong and can do this. I send you solidarity and love.

I recommend trying micro-dosing of psilocybin. Does wonders for my MDD and PTSD. A literal life saver in my case.

Any advice on finding a place to get it? I'm in Illinois, don't have friends and don't go to college. Have tried everything including shock therapy for depression.

Unfortunately no. I've always just had friends who can hook me up. It can be hard to find generally speaking. The good news is psilocybin has been granted breakthrough status by the FDA and will begin stage 3 clinical trials next year. I'm very hopeful it will be unscheduled and more widely available in the near future.

Yeah I do shrooms every once in a while and it makes me feel great. I should look into micro dosing tbh

For sure general tips, try to dose no more often than every other day - less if you can. I dose every 3rd day myself, but I know some people who do just fine dosing as little as once a week. Get yourself a micro-gram scale, and start super small - like 0.05 grams. You want to get it to the point where you can just barely notice a difference. Usually the sweet spot is around 0.08-0.11 grams but it varies with the potency of your shrooms. The way I know I have the right dose is that I don't actually experience any active effects, but it feels like the whole world is just a little bit brighter. It's as if the day was overcast, and all of a sudden the sun breaks through the clouds and you see everything in more vivid color.

I wish you luck and health comrade!

      As someone else mentioned:

Taurus g3c for $250 which is a damn good price for a fake Glock in 9mm with a manual safety and three magazines

Still ain't cheap, but it's a good option if you got some sticker shock looking at $1500 rifles.

I've been looking into getting one pretty soon actually. Am going to meet up with a friend who is a gun guy tomorrow probably to pick his brain and maybe take me to a shop.

The process to get a gun in NYC is basically impossible if you don't know a police officer. Here are the steps. It includes an interview with the NYPD on why you "need" a gun, and most people don't even get to that stage. There's some lawyer on reddit that filed a federal lawsuit about this because it's taken him like five years to get a gun license with no success. It's insane.

The rifle/shotgun permit is a little more permissive, and generally doesn't seem to require an interview (though I'm sure the NYPD would never pass up the chance to be difficult when it comes to people getting one, especially if you had the poor foresight to be born with a skin tone darker than milk).

I've spoken to all my close friends, as well as a few family members about this topic. With a sample size of 12, how much they had been subject to violence by people they couldn't fight back against seemed to directly correlate with how willing they were to kill someone if needed. How empathetic the person was barely seemed to effect this, even if you would intuitively think otherwise. Not that I wrote things down or crunched numbers, I just like to think about things with a scientific mind if I can.

The more they had been beaten, the more emotionally ready to kill, basically. That's my hypothesis, anyway.

However I try to phrase explaining how I personally feel on the matter I feel like an edgelord who is trying to brag, so I'm gonna leave that out. But know if you feel like you simply couldn't kill someone, you aren't alone. It's a natural feeling, I suspect the majority of people feel similarly. Even a lot of chuds will search for excuses to keep the weapon they carry not ready because they don't want to kill anyone and don't wanna admit it.
